What you’ll be doing

The mandate of Procurement is to provide sourcing and contracting services utilizing disciplined governance to enable CIBC to effectively execute against its business priorities. Procurement execute contracts for the supply of products and services used by CIBC with optimal balance of price, risk, quality and organizational impact. The Procurement team also provides support for CIBC Vendor management programs and CIBC’s purchasing and procurement applications.

This role is within the Strategy, Procurement & Enterprise Projects (SPEP) department. As a Senior Manager RF(x) you will be part of a small team who act as a strategic advisors for go to market strategies to support procurement colleagues across multiple categories and business stakeholders to achieve their objectives providing exceptional and consistent sourcing and contracting services utilizing disciplined processes and governance to enable CIBC to effectively execute against its business priorities.  As a Senior Manager for RFx you have a blend of strategic sourcing expertise, project management, and high-level stakeholder management. RFx initiatives drive efficiencies, cost savings, and risk mitigation throughout the end-to-end procurement process.

How you’ll succeed

  • Results Orientation - Track record of driving 10-15% annual savings and achieving tangible value beyond price.
  • Adaptability - Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-impact, and sometimes ambiguous, environment.
  • Communication - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex data for executive review.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management – Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage category strategies, including spend analysis, market research, and sourcing roadmaps.
  • End-to-End RFx Leadership – Manage the entire RFx lifecycle, from initial scoping and requirements gathering to scorecard development, evaluations, support procurement negotiations, and provide stakeholder guidance throughout the process.
  • Relationship Building - By providing professional high-quality support to CIBC business owners and the extended proposal development teams that could include representatives across the organization. You are successful in building strategic relationships with key suppliers throughout the RFx process, monitoring supplier compliance and adherence to processes, validation of submission materials, ensuring fair and equitable practices are maintained throughout the RFx process. 
  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management - Help stakeholders meet their business goals by providing better service and value. Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with business partners, suppliers, and peers. Develops trusted advisor relationships and provide leadership and valued consulting advice to facilitate the effective management and completion of procurement initiatives. Align procurement solutions with their business objectives.

Who you are

  • You bring extensive procurement experience. You have at least 8-10 years of procurement experience, including a minimum of 7 years directly managing and facilitating RFx initiatives. You’re well-versed in supplier management processes and formal sourcing practices.
  • You’re a strategic problem solver and project leader. You manage multiple complex sourcing projects simultaneously, drive process improvements and automation for greater efficiency, and identify and mitigate risks throughout the sourcing process. You use critical thinking, creativity, and sound decision-making to resolve challenges and deliver results.
  • You’re skilled at stakeholder management and influencing. You have a track record of fostering relationships with key suppliers, monitoring compliance, validating submission materials, and ensuring equitable practices throughout the RFx process. You partner effectively with internal stakeholders across IT, Business, Legal, Finance, and more to identify needs, build consensus, and communicate the value of procurement strategies to senior leaders.
  • You’re analytical and financially savvy. You perform spend, cost, and benchmark analysis to support fact-based decisions and guide stakeholders on variable models.
  • You’re technically proficient. You have advanced knowledge of e-Procurement tools (such as Coupa) and the Microsoft Office Suite, including complex Excel and PowerPoint usage.
  • You’re a leader and mentor. You have experience leading and developing team members in procurement.
