Role- Sr. Manager Project Management

Senior Manager for Projects will be responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of all the infrastructure projects undertaken by the project department. Major projects include construction of berths for various types of cargo, dredging & reclamation, maintenance dredging development of yards, infrastructure for cargo handling, roads, utilities, buildings, other marine structures, maintenance of critical civil structures and port modernization works.

The role requires strong interface management, multidisciplinary coordination and project management capabilities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, in compliance with technical standards and with minimal operational disruptions.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead complete project management activities from initiation to closure for all major and minor port infrastructure projects.
  • Develop detailed project documentation including project charters, scopes of work, timelines, budgets, CAPEX, risk assessments, environmental and statutory clearances.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), cost estimates, and technical review processes.
  • Oversee engineering and design deliverables, technical specifications, procurement planning, execution monitoring, and overall project planning and control activities.
  • Implement robust cost control, change management, variation approval, and reporting mechanisms to ensure disciplined project governance.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders—including consultants, contractors, internal departments, and external agencies—to ensure smooth and timely project execution.
  • Support the preparation of tender documents, technical requirements, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs); participate in technical bid evaluations and pre-bid meetings/workshops.
  • Manage contract administration, including handling disputes, claims, extensions of time, and all related contractual correspondence.
  • Monitor and enforce HSE performance, promote a zero-incident culture, and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and port safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with port departments (Marine, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Legal, etc.) and liaise with regulatory authorities, agencies, consultants, contractors, and local stakeholders as required.
  • Prepare and submit project reports including weekly / monthly progress updates, dashboards, cost reports, change management logs, schedule updates, and risk registers in accordance with governance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure readiness for internal and external audits.
  • Monitor progress versus baseline schedules using appropriate project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15–18 years of relevant experience & proven track record in planning, execution and management of port related large infrastructure projects (≥ ₹200–500+ crore scale or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Port projects including piling, dredging, reclamation, ground improvement, cargo yards etc.
  • Knowledge of relevant Indian & International standards, Project management, i.e.  Project planning & control processes,
  • Experience with FIDIC/EPC contracts and Primavera/MS Project preferred
