The Sr Manager - Infrastructure Engineering Senior Infrastructure Engineering Manager role provides vision and leadership for the creation and execution of technology strategies aligned with business requirements and priorities. This role will direct the planning, engineering, implementation, and support of enterprise networks and architecture of solutions which requires in depth technical expertise including, but not limited to the network, voice, mobile, and virtual and physical endpoint domains.

Database Engineering

  • Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of database systems that provide reliability, performance and availability and scale up to millions of concurrent users
  • Define and own the database platform strategy (SQL, NoSQL, distributed data) aligned to availability, performance, security, and cost targets; set standards for schema design, indexing, and data modeling across products and services.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and operational excellence of OLTP/OLAP platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL/PostgreSQL; MongoDB/Redis), including capacity planning, performance tuning, automation, observability, and SLA management.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering, Data/Analytics, and Infra teams to deliver features at scale, review designs, and optimize queries/stored procedures/indexes for product roadmaps and peak events
  • Develop and execute systems strategies to support business goals
  • Develop and leverage internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals
  • Ensure scalability and performance metrics are achieved
  • Lead the effort to establish operational processes for systems maintenance, updates and upgrades.
  • Partner with infrastructure and SRE teams to drive and own the incident management and recovery process.
  • Drive DB reliability engineering (DB‑SRE) practices—instrumentation, error budgets, runbooks, change management, and incident response—to reduce toil and MTTR. Ensures key ITIL based metrics are in place to measure and enforce service delivery.
  • Design, implement and maintain effective disaster recovery technologies. Establish and enforce backup/restore, HA/DR, replication, and data retention policies; execute DR drills and compliance audits.
  • Ensure back up recovery capabilities are in place, tested and daily execution of the program is sustained.
  • Ensure project milestones/goals are met while adhering to approved budgets

Team Leadership

  • Manage highly skilled cross-functional team of database engineers and administrators.
  • Hire and lead database engineering teams responsible for delivering growth related initiatives.
  • Be responsible for the growth of the team including individuals' career growth, skill set development, and hiring the right resources
  • Provide mentorship with a lens on continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce

Minimum Education

  • Master/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Knowledge of major databases and programming languages, i.e. MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL, Java, Python, C, C++, etc.
  • Experience with cloud services – GCP, Oracle experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in DB admin function with exposure to cloud migrations.
  • Proven depth in performance tuning, observability, backup/restore, and replication.

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • 10+ years of experience in large scale production database engineering and development
  • 2+ years leading engineering teams with growing responsibility
  • Deep technical experience in large scale environments
  • Internal and cloud infrastructure model

Other

  • Ability to navigate a rapidly changing landscape, while handling multiple responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting high‑volume retail/ecommerce systems and peak readiness.
  • Curious about new technology and always looking to acquire new knowledge
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Computer Science fundamentals experience in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms
  • Significant experience as a successful tech leader building, managing and mentoring engineering teams in large scale, highly available Internet applications
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain high quality engineering talent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Be an action oriented, independent, self-starter comfortable working in an unstructured, fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive products and competing priorities simultaneously with minimum guidance and high attention to detail
