What you'll be doing

You’ll join our Governance Risk Controls team reporting into the Director, Risk, Governance and Controls. As a Senior Manager Governance & Risk Advisory, you’ll work in growing area of the bank that manages operational risk, regulatory supervision, standardized testing, loss management, Global Technology , Data and AI. As part of the Governance & Controls team you’ll lead the management of material, systemic and emerging risks and implement integrated control improvement solutions across all products and distribution channels. In addition, you will be accountable for providing consultation on the development, analysis and implementation of process changes or other activities which support our partners achieve their strategic objectives while achieving compliance with the data management policies and standards. You’ll provide support of CIBC’s Control Framework to ensure compliance to regulatory, legislative, and operational requirements, including the efficient and effective management of deficiency remediation. You’ll act as the key relationship manager for the business and provide risk consultation and advise on governance initiatives for Global Technology, Data & AI (GTDAI).

How You’ll Succeed

  • Risk Assessment/Remediation: Work closely with the LOB partners to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps, to analyze and synthesize risk exposures, operational losses, root causes and control gaps and determine materiality. Propose recommendations to mitigate risk exposures/control gaps. Lead the Change Initiative Risk Assessment(CIRA) process, ensuring all material risks are identified and compliant to the CIBC CIRA policy and process. Manage all deficiencies for the LOB, ensuring closure dates are met and no deficiencies go past due. Lead the implementation of remediation plans for targeted control gaps/special projects.
  • Risk Consulting: Lead the completion of all CIBC Control Framework requirements. Act as the risk and control Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing expert advice to LOB partners. Lead all Internal Audits, Compliance exams for the business. Provide ongoing management of self-assessment processes. Participate in larger more complex business, governance and regulatory projects to identify risk and control issues, recommend solutions and develop control requirements.
  • People Management - Success in this role requires strong people management skills to lead a diverse team. AI Management - Knowledge with AI management/governance and principles, practices, standard, processes.
  • Relationship Building/Management: Key relationship manager and collaborative consultant with business partners, and 2nd and 3rd lines of defense for all matters relating to operational risk. Manage relationships at peer or director level, as well as project/initiative managers within the assigned Line of Business (LOB). Represent Business Controls on business initiatives.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate minimum 5 years experience and working knowledge of governance, controls, risk management principles, practices, policies and procedures with a background in Technology Audits. Significant experience in people management and investigative work is strongly preferred. You can demonstrate experience in supporting and communicating Control Framework requirements and support the development of new/changes to controls. It's an asset if you have an knowledge of Data management and Analytics. It's an asset if you have experience in Enterprise Technology and AI development governance models.
