Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Sr. Manager, Dynamic Component Repair-Repair/Overhaul to join our Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) team based in Grand Prairie, TX.

Your duties will consist of being responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Dynamic Components Repair Shop to ensure safe maintenance operations and compliance with all company, FAA and governmental safety rules and regulations, including component airworthiness. This role communicates and administers corporate policies and goals to ensure a continuing understanding of the commitment to safety and compliance

Your challenges:

Dynamic Components Repair Operations:  45%

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the dynamic components repair shop to ensure cost, quality, on-time delivery and safety objectives are met or surpassed.

  • Ensure safe maintenance operations and compliance with all company, FAA and governmental safety rules and regulations, including the airworthiness.

  • Define the strategy and provides capital budget requirements (CAPEX) to the MRO Sr. Director for the Dynamic Components repair shop

  • Manage P&L, repair & overhaul investment project costs/schedule; ensuring that facilities are adequate for accomplishing Company Business Plan Goals & Objectives.

  • Define and deploy transformation actions to improve performances (competitiveness & lead-time)

  • develop and deploy operational strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports strategic initiatives.

  • Works closely with cross-functional colleagues, such as Design Office and Procurement, to identify and overcome obstacles to ensure the successful achievement of company objectives. Manage Smartrack to drumbeat operation progress and performance with emphasis on task by task improvement.

  • Implement reporting systems which ensure a smooth workflow with effective manpower utilization, ability to track work in process and the identification and resolution of major problem areas.

  • Responsible for work scheduling, directing the priorities and activities, based on technicians’ training matrix.

  • Establish and ensure compliance with standard procedures for the purchase, overhaul, inspection and repair of gearbox components. Audit practices to ensure their effectiveness.

  • Ensure the manpower, facilities, equipment, and tooling needed to meet operational goals are properly communicated and that this effort represents efficient utilization of the allocated workforce in meeting on-going required maintenance.

  • Review and respond to Maintenance delays and system problems. Develop and implement changes to eliminate recurrence. Implement tools to proactively manage and eliminate bottlenecks.

  • Based on the Airbus Helicopters Top Company Objectives (TCO’s), develop, maintain and reports quantitative metrics (KPIs) for both operational and financial performance.

  • Ensure that all procedures, manuals and revisions within area of responsibility are maintained current, are followed and that a well-defined working relationship is established with QA in order to maintain the requirements of ISO 9001 and FAR 145, DCMA 8210

  • Implement reporting systems which ensure a smooth workflow with effective manpower utilization, ability to track work in process and the identification and resolution of major problem areas.

  • Responsible for establishing & managing operational expenses (OPEX) within budget.

  • Proactively monitor & manage labor hours per project and ensure optimal labor utilization.

  • Support quality audits and perform Root Cause Analysis (TCA) to obtain sustainable corrective actions within the allotted response timeframe to avoid systemic issues.

Leadership and Team Management:  30%

  • Select qualified personnel for all positions to ensure consistent compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and accepted industry practices.

  • Direct Dynamic Components repair teams and interfaces to ensure that they carry out all maintenance activities safely, on time and within budgetary requirements.

  • Assigns and monitors work of subordinates, including training and coaching; conducts ongoing performance planning and appraisals.

  • Conduct periodic performance evaluations; make recommendations for salary increases (promotion, merit, and economic adjustment), transfers, hires, and disciplinary actions (up to terminations if deemed necessary) following our consequential management process.

  • Communicate and administer corporate policies and goals to assigned personnel to ensure a continuing understanding of Airbus Helicopters commitments to customers.

  • Identify the needs for and initiate the action to provide both management & technical training as required to repair & overhaul staff. Maintain training matrix & training plan up to date and ensure developmental plans are in place to support the growth and maturity of the team.

  • Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction. Encourage use of new techniques, promoting innovation while maintaining focus on fact-based problem solving.

  • Assure shop safety, manage all PPE and follow corrective actions with PPS

  • Live up Airbus values and enable speak-up within the teams.

Plan the Activity:  25%

  • Provide the necessary information and tools to support the development of the annual price catalog.

  • Schedule the work and define expected delivery date to reach OTD target. Adequately manage conflicting priorities.

  • Establish the 18 month forecast (operational and financial) of assemblies by model on an annual basis and review quarterly, with the Global Supply Chain. Develop the tools needed to improve its accuracy and ease of creation.

  • Establish workload/capacity analysis to anticipate any additional resources needs

  • Define a robust strategy to manage missing parts and align with prioritization needs

  • Provide status update on WIP & TAT to both internal and external customers

  • Reports and monitors progress on improvement plans, and steer activities as needed to meet targets

  • Work alongside cost accounting, controlling, planning, forecast and supply chain teams to ensure forecast activities are executed and adhered to.

  • Support the Sr. Mgr of Business Office to establish pricing policies, annual price catalogs and decisions on goodwill when customer satisfaction is at risk.

  • Utilizes visual management process to drumbeat shop activities and perform weekly team reviews on WIP progress and SQCDP.

Experience:

Required

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the field (performing/supervising) management experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Maintenance Repair & Overhaul

  • 3 or more years managing a P&L of $5M or higher 

  • Experience working in international business setting of 3 years or more

Preferred

  • Lean experience / greenbelt or Blackbelt certification

  • 3 or more years managing a P&L of $5M or higher

  • 5 or more years of experience o Airbus Helicopters Range

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in aviation (performing/Supervising) management experience
