Sr. Manager, Data Strategy & Management

Pfizer is seeking a Sr Manager to join our Data Strategy and Management team. This role is critical in shaping the organization’s data strategy, governance, and execution to enable impactful insights and business decisions. You will lead efforts to design and implement scalable, extensible, and highly available data solutions that serve as the foundation for commercial analytics and innovation.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders in analytics, data science, marketing, digital, and business teams to define priorities, align on strategy, and deliver best-in-class data products and tools that drive business performance.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director and Team Lead, Data Strategy and Management, this individual will play a dual role as a strategic leader and hands-on contributor. Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the vision for data strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and digital transformation goals.

  • Establish governance frameworks, data quality standards, and best practices for data management across.

  • Influence senior leadership on data-driven decision-making and advocate for investments in data capabilities.

  • Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, analytics, and AI, and assess their applicability to Pfizer’s ecosystem.

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to integrate data strategy into marketing and commercial workflows.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability.

  • Partner with business and technical teams to prioritize projects, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery of high-impact solutions.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, translating complex data concepts into actionable business strategies.

Technical & Operational Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into scalable data architecture and engineering specifications.

  • Build and oversee development of robust data pipelines and query-friendly data structures.

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with Performance Analytics and Insights (PAI) and Data Science to enable advanced analytics and modeling capabilities.

  • Drive automation and optimization of data ingestion, transformation, and validation processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 3+ years OR PhD with 0-2 years in data strategy, engineering, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of Big Data systems, pipelines, and distributed architectures.

  • Expertise in Python, SQL, and modern data platforms.

  • Familiarity with API integration, data validation frameworks, and advanced data modeling.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence at all levels.
