Job Summary

Responsible for leading data teams that validate and manage critical business data files across multiple functional areas, with emphasis on work process evaluation and continuous process improvement. Work with functional team leaders to determine requirements and develop consistent practices including standards, policies and templates to ensure data integrity.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops and continually assesses work processes to identify opportunities to automate, minimize error and maximize productivity. Develops tools to monitor for compliance to standards.
  • Leads, plans, and coordinates work teams to ensure effective performance. Works with the team to determine root cause for discrepancies, correct processes and implement change.
  • Leads data teams including but not limited to: product file maintenance including cost, descriptions, specifications, and trade service; vendor file maintenance including direct and indirect format of vendor information and vendor capabilities; EDI to establish vendor participation and determine desired transaction sets; and, ERP system data management for establishing information flow from all touch points and regular validation of system access, setup and maintenance of structure.
  • Develops strategies to enable teams to efficiently input and analyze data received from external sources to ensure accurate and validated data is available for branch associates in decision making and customer service.

Nature and Scope

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.
  • Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
