033533 Sr Manager - Controllership, Financial Reporting (Open)
Job Description:
The Sr Manager, Financial Reporting will lead a team responsible for the company’s financial consolidation, SEC reporting, and regulatory filings. This role partners with executive leadership, oversees internal controls and technical account, supports audit activities, and drives the implementation of accounting standards and best practices across a multi-national public organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation and closing activities, including leading the execution of appropriate internal controls.
- Oversees preparation of quarterly and annual reports filed with the SEC. Specifically, Form 10Q, 10K, 11K and 8K.
- Oversees preparation of Greif’s quarterly earnings release, conference calls and other investor presentations.
- Executes strategy with respect to the external reporting and external compliance processes and procedures. Responsible for successful outcomes with respect to external compliance commitments.
- Partners with director and VP to develop strategy for corporate controllership function.
- Leads a team of experienced accounting senior analysts. Responsible for development and progression of multi-level staff of associate through manager.
- Guides application and recording of complex accounting transactions.
- Advises investor relations and leadership team on analyst and investor requests.
- Leads implementation of new accounting standards, including designing and implementing process, procedures and controls.
- Oversees the annual short-term and long-term incentive plan accounting process, including coordination with FP&A, Total Rewards and global accounting functions.
- Oversees compliance with global finance procedures, including adherence to chart of accounts, fixed asset capitalization and quarterly certifications.
- Responsible for leading compliance with over 60 global controllership controls.
- Leads oversight and review for key subject matter experts, including pension and goodwill valuation specialists.
- Liaison with other functional areas within the company, which includes all corporate departments and all global business units.
- Advises on complex legal entity transactions, technical accounting research, and resolution other accounting inquiries for Greif’s global business units and functional departments.
- Point of contact for Greif's Finance Business Partners and FP&A for US GAAP questions and metrics.
- Assists corporate controllership integration activities during acquisitions or serve in similar capacities for other transactions.
- Completes special projects assigned with high quality and timeliness.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant designation
- 7+ years accounting experience
- Accounting or auditing experience in an SEC reporting environment
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Experience in a multi-national company preferred
- Experience leading multi-level teams of professional staff
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills, especially with executive leadership.
- Ability to leverage Generative AI and other digital tools to execute work
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Collaborative working style and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and geographies.
- Ability to build consensus to achieve organizational objectives.
- Strong coaching skills to develop and oversee a multi-layered team of 3-5 staff members on a daily basis
- Strong computer skills required particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and other digital tools within the Microsoft platform
- Experience in Workiva and Oracle consolidation system a plus.

Compensation Range:
The pay range for this position is $108,900.00 - $185,500.00. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $125,000.00 to $165,000.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
