Overall Purpose

The Sr. Manager, Business Systems is a senior technical and people leadership role responsible for the strategy, governance, roadmap, design, development, delivery, and production support of enterprise business systems, with primary accountability for the Content Management System (CMS) platform, including the MadCap Flare content authoring and publishing ecosystem. This role serves as the platform owner and subject matter expert for assigned systems, ensuring they are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with business objectives, governance requirements, and the company’s enterprise risk management framework. The position provides strategic leadership, establishes standards and controls, manages budgets and vendor contracts, and coaches high-performing teams to deliver reliable, well-governed platforms that support critical business initiatives. In addition, this position manages contract and budgeting for assigned applications.

Essential Functions:

Platform Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and own the enterprise strategy, roadmap, and operating model for assigned business systems, with primary focus on the CMS (MadCap Flare).

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and platform owner, maintaining deep understanding of system architecture, integrations, and customer interactions.

  • Provide strategic oversight to ensure system reliability, scalability, functionality, capacity, and performance.

  • Participate in and oversee all platform enhancement initiatives to ensure changes do not adversely impact stability or control posture.

Delivery & Operations

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of assigned systems, including approval of changes and ownership of critical incident and problem resolution.

  • Lead teams to independently support key business initiatives and deliver large, complex projects.

  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • Develop and monitor platform performance metrics, service levels, and key risk indicators.

Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership

  •  Input into the hiring, training, and development of team members, fostering highly engaged, high-performing teams.

  • Provide direction and coaching to CMS administrators, content technologists, and vendors.

  • Partner effectively with product, legal, compliance, risk, technology, and operations stakeholders.

  • Provide strong leadership and communication to align business needs with system capabilities and outcomes.

  • Manage budgets and vendor contracts for assigned applications and platforms.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience managing development, platform, or service delivery teams; experience with business systems required.

  • Demonstrated experience owning enterprise platforms or systems, preferably CMS platforms.

  • Strong ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate solutions, and make sound decisions.

  • Proven ability to relate business needs to system capabilities and understand enterprise impacts.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Demonstrated success in building and retaining highly engaged, high-performing teams.

  • Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in CMS platform ownership, business systems leadership, or content governance roles.

  • Extensive experience with MadCap Flare or similar content management platforms.

  • Experience in regulated environments (financial services, payments, healthcare, or similar).

  • Strong governance, risk, and control expertise.

  • Familiarity with structured authoring, XML, or DITA.

  • Experience managing, mentoring, or coaching platform teams and vendors.

  • ITIL Foundation certification.

  • Project management experience.

  • Agile development experience.


The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ in USD per year is: $129,000 - $161,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
