Summary:

The Senior Manager, Annual Giving & Donor Engagement will build and lead the Foundation’s first comprehensive annual fund program—establishing the strategy, infrastructure, and donor experience needed to grow a broad base of philanthropic support. This is a revenue-producing, program-building role designed to expand participation, strengthen donor loyalty, and create a sustainable pipeline into mid-level and major giving.

Reporting to the President of the Foundation, this leader will develop and launch an annual giving strategy focused initially on unrestricted support, while building pathways for restricted annual gifts aligned with priority initiatives over time. The role will oversee all annual fund campaigns, donor stewardship, segmentation strategy, and analytics-driven outreach—serving as a central driver of both revenue growth and increased community visibility.

Candidate must live within driving distance of Oconomowoc, WI. This is a hybrid role.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

Build & Launch the Annual Fund

  • Develop the Foundation’s annual fund strategy, including case for support, giving levels, calendar, campaign plans, and measurable revenue goals.

  • Establish annual donor tiers and leadership annual giving pathways.

  • Create a clear value proposition for unrestricted giving while identifying opportunities for restricted annual gifts tied to priority initiatives.

Campaign Ownership & Revenue Growth

  • Lead strategy and execution of all annual fund campaigns (direct mail, digital, email, online giving, and giving days).

  • Develop acquisition, renewal, and upgrade strategies to grow donor participation and retention.

  • Establish and track key performance indicators (donor count, retention rate, average gift, response rate, ROI).

Stewardship & Donor Experience

  • Design and manage a comprehensive annual donor stewardship program, including acknowledgment processes, impact updates, recognition opportunities, and engagement touchpoints.

  • Partner with leadership to create meaningful donor engagement experiences that elevate the Foundation’s visibility and deepen relationships.

Data, Segmentation & Analytics

  • Utilize Salesforce to segment donor audiences and identify annual fund prospects.

  • Develop analytics-informed targeting strategies to drive acquisition and upgrades.

  • Build reporting dashboards and provide regular performance analysis and recommendations.

Internal Collaboration & Brand Elevation

  • Collaborate with communications to align messaging and optimize segmentation.

  • Partner with major gifts colleagues to create seamless donor transition pathways.

  • Contribute to strengthening the Foundation’s brand presence and community awareness through consistent, strategic engagement.

  • Relationship Building and Stewardship – Skilled in cultivating, stewarding, and retaining annual fund donors through thoughtful engagement, recognition, and meaningful donor experiences.

  • Collaboration and Influence – Proven ability to partner with communications, major gifts, leadership, and cross‑functional teams to align messaging, streamline donor pathways, and enhance program visibility.

  • Technical and Data Competency – Proficiency using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) for segmentation, reporting, dashboards, and performance analysis; strong comfort with spreadsheets and reporting tools.

  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement – Forward-thinking, adaptable, and able to test new approaches, optimize campaigns, and build infrastructure for a first‑ever annual fund program.

  • Organizational and Operational Excellence – Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.

Education/Licensure and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, business, philanthropy, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in fundraising, annual giving, development operations, or related nonprofit revenue‑generating roles.

  • Demonstrated success building or expanding an annual giving program, including campaign strategy, donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade pathways.

  • Experience working with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) for donor segmentation, analytics, and reporting.

  • Proven experience managing multi-channel campaigns, including direct mail, digital/email outreach, and giving-day initiatives.

  • Preferred: Experience within healthcare, behavioral health, or a mission‑driven organization.

  • Preferred: Experience partnering with major gifts or advancement teams to support donor pipeline development.
