About the Role

We are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) to provide strategic and hands-on support to Nuro’s technical organizations, including critical hardware and software engineering teams. This role will help drive important business and people outcomes by partnering closely with leaders and employees across highly specialized functions.

As a key member of the HR team, you will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing coaching, organizational insight, and practical people solutions that improve team effectiveness and organizational health. You will also play a critical role in navigating change, managing complex employee relations matters, and ensuring strong, consistent documentation and execution across key people processes.

This role requires a combination of strategic partnership, program management, change leadership, and deep employee relations expertise. The ideal candidate brings experience supporting technical teams in fast-paced environments, is comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, and can help leaders scale effectively while maintaining a high-performing, inclusive, and accountable culture.

About the Work

  • Provide strategic HRBP support to critical technical teams across Nuro, ensuring alignment with business needs and goals.
  • Coach and advise leaders on team effectiveness, manager capability, organizational design, workforce planning, and change management.
  • Partner with leaders to navigate complex people matters, including performance management, investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, and employee exits.
  • Ensure clear, timely, and well-reasoned documentation across employee relations matters and other sensitive people decisions.
  • Drive data-informed decision-making by providing organizational insights, talent diagnostics, and practical people recommendations to leaders.
  • Partner with Talent Management on performance management, engagement surveys, leadership development, and manager enablement initiatives, driving a culture of continuous feedback, employee engagement, and effective talent management.
  • Design and implement HR programs and operating rhythms that align with Nuro’s business strategy and support high-performing technical teams.
  • Support compensation processes, including salary planning, promotions, organizational leveling, and other talent planning decisions.
  • Partner with leaders through periods of organizational change, including team redesigns, leadership transitions, and evolving business priorities.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of employment law, company policy, and HR best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR and manager workflows through responsible use of AI-enabled tools, and help drive adoption of scalable practices that improve efficiency, insight generation, and team effectiveness.

About You

  • Minimum of 5 years of HRBP experience
  • Minimum of 3 years supporting Engineering or Hardware teams as an HRBP
  • Experience supporting organizations through change, ambiguity, and evolving business needs
  • Strong business acumen and a proven track record of influencing leaders and driving business outcomes through people strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to coach managers and senior leaders on performance, team effectiveness, and difficult people decisions
  • Solid program and project management skills, with a structured, practical, and solution-oriented approach
  • Comfort operating at multiple altitudes, from strategic planning and org design to day-to-day employee relations execution
  • Experience using data and metrics to inform talent and organizational decisions
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and interest in applying them thoughtfully to improve team and HR effectiveness, while maintaining confidentiality and appropriate judgment
  • Strong communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to build trust across functions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $125,400 and $188,100 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
