Sr Global Tax Manager

This role is responsible for managing Henry Schein Inc.’s tax matters for an assigned international jurisdiction including accounting for income taxes. Work closely with and provide support to International Tax Directors and local finance teams to confirm accurate U.S GAAP tax reporting in accordance with ASC 740, including tax accounting for mergers and acquisitions. Manage the preparation and review of assigned portfolio’s tax provisions and maintain all necessary documentation. Work directly with leadership on all tax provision matters, to support the global tax reporting process. Ensure the Company is compliant with SEC and Sarbanes Oxley reporting guidelines. Lead implementation and optimization of tax technology tools to improve tax compliance, reporting, and data management.  Automate tax workflows using tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Python, or similar data automation platforms.  Manage the tax provision software as an Administrator and lead the quarterly close system setups. Global contact for all questions, issues and concerns related to the tax provision software. Manage special tax technology and process improvement projects on an as needed basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage all tax-related matters as they pertain to ASC 740 for assigned international portfolio.  Partner with International Tax Directors and local finance teams to confirm accurate U.S. GAAP reporting.  Review the quarterly worldwide tax provision which determines the global effective tax for financial reporting purposes.  Assist in preparation of financial statement disclosures for public filing.  Review and analyze global income tax expense and tax related balance sheet accounts.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative updates and technical guidance pertaining to tax reporting for impact to the global tax provision.
  • Manage purchase accounting process for foreign subsidiaries.  Work closely with the International Tax Directors and the Accounting department on tax accounting for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Work directly with leadership on various tax provision matters including quarterly reporting and disclosures.
  • Work with Financial Planning to manage effective tax rate forecasts and assist with internal budgeting process.
  • Prepare and maintain internal controls documentation.
  • Lead implementation and optimization of tax technology tools to improve tax compliance, reporting, and data management.
  • Automate tax workflows using tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Python, or similar data automation platforms
  • Manage the tax provision software setup and serve as a global Administrator for the system.
  • Conduct and offer training to the tax department personnel both domestically and internationally as it pertains to all tax related software applications.
  • Participate in special tax technology & process improvement projects and perform other duties as required.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

  • At least 7+ years of experience in ASC 740 reporting with either a “Big Four” firm or in a large corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision
  • Familiarity with data automation and analytics tools (Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or similar)
  • Knowledge of accounting for domestic and international subsidiaries
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite
  • U.S. GAAP and International Tax Reporting Experience Required
  • CPA preferred

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: 

Typically 10 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: 

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent preferred. May hold two or more industry certifications.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.

The posted range for this position is $132,956 to $182,816 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. 

This position is eligible for a bonus not reflected in the posted range.
