The Senior Financial Analyst will support the financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities for Signet Diamond Sourcing (SDS), focusing on inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and overall financial performance. This role is instrumental in maintaining accurate financial reporting, improving visibility into key metrics, and supporting decision-making processes across the organization. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, SDS Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams, providing critical insights to optimize inventory management, gross margin, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker with a strong foundation in finance, accounting, and inventory management, coupled with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Analyze and report on key financial metrics, including inventory balances, inventory reserves, gross margin, and cost of goods sold (COGS), identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc financial reports to support management decision-making
Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses related to inventory and COGS
Support forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, providing meaningful insights into operational and financial performance
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPIs to enhance visibility into financial and operational results
Inventory & Cost Management:
Assist in maintaining the accuracy of physical inventory by collaborating with operations teams to identify and resolve discrepancies
Support the analysis of inventory transactions, including inventory roll-forwards, cost variances, and obsolescence reserves
Partner with supply chain and operations teams to ensure accurate COGS reporting and inventory valuation
Provide insights related to inventory turnover, shrinkage, and operational inefficiencies, recommending actions to improve performance
Data & Analytics:
Assist in managing pricing and costing data infrastructure, including maintaining pricing grids, ensuring accurate updates across systems, and integrating data sources to support the Sourcing Costing team
Develop advanced SQL queries and data pipelines to consolidate datasets from multiple systems, enabling scalable analysis, consistent reporting, and reliable decision support
Deliver data-driven insights and reporting by building analytical models, improving automation and standardization, and ensuring leadership has accurate, timely operational and financial data
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement opportunities to streamline financial processes and enhance data accuracy
Support the Senior Manager in designing workflows and tools to improve inventory management and financial reporting
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish best practices and ensure alignment with corporate objectives
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Serve as a trusted business partner to departments such as supply chain, operations, and accounting, providing financial insights and recommendations
Collaborate with internal and external auditors by preparing required documentation for audits and ensuring compliance with SOX controls
Work closely with IT and ERP teams to optimize systems for financial and inventory reporting
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics with a minimum of 3-5 years of financial analysis and accounting experience, preferably in inventory, COGS, or related field -
CPA or CMA certification is a plus
Experience in retail, wholesale, or e-commerce environments is highly desirable
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, with a focus on inventory and COGS accounting
Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and financial reporting tools
Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, develop insights, and recommend actions
Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with visualization/data tools like Tableau, Alteryx and/or Power BI
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings to senior stakeholders
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis
Ability to build strong relationships across departments and work collaboratively to achieve shared goals
Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing priorities

The salary range for this opportunity is $100,000 - $125,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors.
