As a Sr. Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, you are responsible for supporting, developing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of environmental, health, and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the organization. This role involves hands-on work, program management, training, and incident response. The individual will work collaboratively with various departments to identify and mitigate EHS risks, drive continuous improvement, and ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. The Opportunity
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs, policies, and procedures, such as Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Response, Waste Management, Ergonomics, and PPE.
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, CUPA, local fire codes, etc.), and preparing and submitting accurate and timely EHS reports to regulatory agencies.
- Conducting regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and non-compliance issues, recommending and implementing corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) to address findings and mitigate risks.
- Developing and delivering EHS training programs for employees, promoting EHS awareness, and fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Leading or participating in incident investigations (e.g., accidents, injuries, near misses, spills) to determine root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Overseeing hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including labeling, storage, transportation, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
- Supporting and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS programs and practices across the organization.
Who You Are
- You have 5-7 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in a biotechnology, medical device, or manufacturing environment.
- IACUC, animal care, and husbandry are also preferred.
- Professional Safety & Health Officer/Specialist, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field certification (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)

- You are experienced with regulatory reporting and compliance and have an understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
- You have training in Continuous Improvement 5S, Lean, Six Sigma fundamentals.
- You have proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and EHS audits. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- You bring strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engage employees at all levels.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills (including grammar and punctuation), including the ability to develop and deliver effective training. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

The expected salary range for this position based on California is $76,900 - $142,700 annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
