About the Team & Role
WEX, Inc. is seeking a Senior Enterprise AI Security Architect to help define the vision, strategy, and provide technical leadership for defining the security strategy, architecture, and governance for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) across the global enterprise. This individual will serve as a high-level visionary, bridging the gap between business requirements and technical security execution. You will be responsible for designing resilient security architectures that protect WEX’s global assets and people, ensuring robust compliance, while enabling rapid innovation. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert (SME), bridging the gap between Data Science, Software Engineering, and Cyber Security to build a robust Secure AI ecosystem.
We’re the Global Information Security Team at WEX, responsible for implementing and operating security technologies and processes throughout WEX. We don’t just operate security tools; we engineer trust. Our team partners with executive leadership and cross-functional engineering groups to ensure WEX is secure by design. We hold ourselves to a high standard of architectural excellence, ensuring that our security posture is proactive, scalable, and resilient.
We are looking for a Senior Enterprise AI Security Architect that is responsible for ensuring the secure function of software development, infrastructure deployment, and regulatory alignment.
How you’ll make an impact
A Strategic Thinker: You look beyond the immediate need to see the systemic challenge. You design for the next five years, not just the next five months.
A Consultative Partner: You can explain complex security trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and influence senior leadership. A collaborative, solid communicator who works well with your team and stakeholders to drive projects from inception to completion
A Secure By Design Mindset: You value a "Secure by Design" philosophy and strive to integrate protection layers into the AI lifecycle without hindering the speed of innovation
Someone who cares deeply for team results but is able to work independently to deliver high quality solutions for projects and operational tasks
Comfortable balancing the need to move fast with the realities of working in a highly regulated organization
Someone who thrives in situations where details and accuracy are vital
A skilled worker that has the motivation, expertise, and work ethic to operate independently across global time zones, and who is able to complete tasks and deliverables with minimal oversight
Work closely with Enterprise IT and Product teams on securing WEX's infrastructure and runtime environments
A mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge and can guide engineering teams through the secure implementation of generative AI and multi-agent systems
Experience you’ll bring
Have 10+ years of experience in information security, including 3+ years in an enterprise security architecture role with a focus on emerging technologies
Have deep expertise in enterprise security architecture, including designing secure patterns for infrastructure, cloud, network, and identity as they relate to AI model hosting and agentic execution environments
Possess a strong practical understanding of modern cloud and hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Azure), networking, and security engineering principles
Have extensive experience designing solutions that meet security, compliance, and business requirements for generative AI and autonomous systems
Have strong working knowledge of major regulatory and compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, NIST, GDPR, SOX, or HITRUST and their evolving application to AI data privacy
Are able to translate regulatory requirements into technical architecture standards and implementation guidance
Have experience reviewing and approving security architecture for complex enterprise systems including Large Language Models and multi-agent workflows
Are comfortable troubleshooting and advising on security or network issues in complex distributed environments including vector databases and inference endpoints
