SNC is seeking a Flight Sciences Engineering Manager to lead and support a growing team of engineers within the fields of mass properties, aerodynamics, loads, flutter, flight dynamics, thermal and more.

As an Engineering Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range of groundbreaking aerospace and defense technologies - those that exist today and those that will shape tomorrow. You will represent the engineering flight sciences disciplines at all management level meetings. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required. As the Flight Sciences Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of improvement and development within our engineering organization. You will work closely with the program engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and help develop and implement solutions. Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage a team of engineers across the flight sciences disciplines deployed across programs at IAS.
  • Program staffing – coordinate with multiple program teams to ensure the teams are set up for successful program execution
  • People – Flight Sciences Engineering Hiring, Resource Management, Professional Development, Development Action Plans, Mentoring, and Training
  • Process – Flight Sciences Engineering process compliance, development, improvement, training, metrics, and audits
  • Tools – Flight Sciences Engineering Tool Training, Maintenance, and Modernization

Must-haves:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant technical experience, which includes 6+ years of management experience.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • A strong technical foundation in systems engineering design principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering, analysis, and simulation tools
  • Self-starter, flexible, and adaptable with excellent verbal, communication, and people skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required

Preferred:

  • Previous management experience; exposure to recruiting employees; assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Experience with identifying and coordinating resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available/effective and programs are staffed and supported to achieve success
  • Understanding of how to prepare project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages
  • Ability to motivate/work with others
  • Prior exposure to working successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
  • Exposure to Engineering Simulation such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis using tools such as StarCCM+ or CFD++.
  • Exposure to aircraft weighing
  • Experience with weight and balance analysis and verification
  • Exposure to aircraft weight control programs
  • Exposure to guidance, navigation and control principles and modeling
  • Understanding of aircraft external loads, aircraft performance and stability and control.
  • Familiarity with wind tunnel and aircraft flight test.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Understanding of system-level static and dynamic modeling and simulation
  • Exposure to aircraft stability principles and control system design and analysis
  • Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, fundamentals of flight mechanics

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $189,761.74 - $260,922.39. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
