Sr. Engineer, Sourcing LCM (Home Product)

Position Summary:

Stanley Black & Decker’s Global Strategic Sourcing organization has an opportunity for Lead Category Management role. This position will be responsible for managing the commercial strategic direction for the BLACK+DECKER® Home Product and Vacuum/Dust Extractors Finished Goods categories effectively managing ~$40M spend with the following spend categories:

• Cleaning, incl. Vacuums/Dust Extractors for all SBD Brands.
• Cooking
• Garment Care
• Beverage Preparation
• Food Preparation
• New Global/Regional Categories – supplier identification and introduction driving profitable growth.

The Job: 

As a Sr. Engineer, Sourcing LCM (Home Product), you’ll be part of our Global Supply Management team.  You will be responsible for strategic planning as well as coordinating tactical execution to meet departmental, product and functional group goals and objectives on a global level.  Total Cost of Ownership as well as driving Stanley Fulfillment System (SFS) with suppliers is the new focus of the Supply Management organization which results in service, quality and profitability.  Ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in commodity leadership, purchasing & project management.   You’ll get to:

• Develop and execute global sourcing strategies to improve service, quality, and total cost of ownership across a global spend portfolio of ~$40M.
• Experience leading and networking with a global and diverse team.
• Negotiate, implement, and manage supplier contracts and service level agreements as well as supplier relationships on behalf of the company with Year-Over-Year (YOY) productivity.
• Conduct strategic global supplier account reviews to define annual performance metrics and measurable corrective action action plans.
• Identify and communicate risks and coordinate implementing mitigation plans.
• Maintain broad knowledge of worldwide market trends on assigned categories.
• Effectively lead and communicate at all levels within the company.
• Work closely with people and all functions across the company (Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Logistics, etc) to formulate, implement and execute sourcing and continuous improvement strategies to improve profitability.
• Build relationships with plants globally to ensure Strategy implementation.
• Manage price Inflation …negate without effecting service and quality.
• Build Y-o-Y cost reduction /productivity projects deck to ensure continued activity.
• Prepare RFI’s, RFP’s, and RFQ’s and evaluate supplier proposals.
• Institute world class procurement / sourcing techniques, processes and practices
• Direct and coordinate supplier development activities.
• Use project management and transformational lean improvement methodology to deliver team results.
• Communicate Cordless Expansion Strategy to the New Product Introduction and Plants Teams and support the New Products’ activity as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant area required, electrical/electronic or manufacturing engineering preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in global strategic sourcing or procurement including supplier selection, management and contract negotiations negotiate, implement, and manage supplier contracts, exclusivity and NDA agreements
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, costs, and materials and experience managing Finished Goods categories with lean manufacturing or six sigma methodologies
• Drive world class cost and margin enhancement (Value Improvement) to deliver YOY productivity
• Experience building cost models/clean sheets, and monitoring raw material market trends
• Strong influencing/negotiation skills and change management experience with the ability to successfully manage complexity and multiple priorities
• Quick learner with interest in understanding and applying global supplier best practices
• Ability to work independently to deliver results and influence stakeholders internally and externally
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Ability to take accountability for driving team results, overcoming challenges, and working in a highly matrixed environment
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changes
• Personal drive, high energy, strong teaming skills, collaborative style and commitment to continuous professional growth
