The Sr. Eng. Industrial Engineer based in our Manchester, Iowa manufacturing site will plan, design, and execute activities that are directly related to the physical creation of RTX products and the functional operation of RTX facilities. This role will be tasked with evaluating and solving everyday manufacturing problems related to design, manufacturing processes, and supplier issues. It will work closely with workers engaged in product development, completions, measurement, inspection, and testing activities to ensure quality control and reliability. This site will be heavily involved in the manufacture of electronic assemblies.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide technical interpretation of drawings and specifications for product and provide assistance and training support to technicians and operators.

  • Plan sequence of operations, procedures, and standard work documentation for the manufacturing environment.

  • Create and maintain Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for products assigned.

  • Recommend solid engineering solutions for design problems and coordinates implementation with Program Office and Design Engineering.

  • Supports evaluation of production and design changes.

  • Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate equipment needs. Identify new approaches that will reduce staffing and capital requirements.

  • Aid in eliminating/reducing defects and improve yields. Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve failures, and defects.

  • Lead in the development of solutions to difficult technical problems of broad scope with little to no supervision.

  • Lead events associated with Kaizen and lean principles.

  • Implement, and maintain methods and processes in the manufacture of complex sub-assembly and top-level designs.

  • Maintain documentation in current configuration and oversees accurate change management procedures for all changes to product and processes. Resolves conflicts in documentation and process definition.

  • Develops complete knowledge of Machines and tools necessary to build, rework, repair product.

  • Support producibility projects to reduce support costs.

  • Oversees the planning and implementation of capital equipment through production release as well as continued support of capital equipment.

  • Creates waivers as needed to support design and production functions

  • Conducts research to evaluate potential solutions related to changes in equipment design, procedures, manpower, personnel, or training to ensure the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow

  • Provide guidance to lower level professional and technical staff

  • Review, creates, develops analytical input to documents, such as proposals or other operation procedures, to support studies pertaining to cost control, productive involvement, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems

  • Support, update, develop and maintain the layout of production floor space to establish maximum utilization of equipment.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suites

  • Experience with SolidWorks

  • Experience with 3d Printing,

  • Experience with SAP, Excel & Data Analysis

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
