What you'll be doing

As Senior Director, Secured Products, Recoveries and Insolvency, you will lead the end-to-end collections and recoveries process for CIBC’s secured lending portfolio, including residential mortgages and auto loans. You will drive performance across all stages of collections, develop and implement strategies to optimize recoveries and minimize credit losses, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies. You will manage third-party partners, establish and monitor key performance metrics, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational effectiveness. Your leadership will foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and respect for clients, while championing diversity and supporting talent development across the organization.

How you'll succeed

  • Strategic Leadership and Planning - Overseeing all stages of collections and third-party relationships to reduce delinquency and credit losses. Develop and implement strategies to optimize recovery, meet management targets, and ensure portfolio health. Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities, support clients, and drive operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Operational Oversight - Lead and oversee collections operations for secured products and clients with complex relationships, including Contact Center staff and third-party partners. Ensure robust processes for delinquency management, hardship programs, restructuring, repossessions, and legal recovery, while partnering with internal teams to develop strategies that reduce non-performing loans and overall credit risk for the bank.
  • Risk & Compliance - Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and internal policy requirements in collection activities, partner with risk management, legal, and compliance teams to monitor emerging risks and maintain strong controls, and regularly report collections performance, risks, and trends to executive management and Board committees.
  • Leadership & People Management - Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing collections team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer respect, and championing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Work closely with internal leaders and technology teams to align collections strategies with business goals, enhance systems, and represent CIBC externally. Build effective partnerships with legal firms and third-party providers to drive results. The ideal candidate has extensive senior leadership experience in credit risk or collections, strong industry expertise, and proven skills in strategy, compliance, and stakeholder management.

Who you are

  • Your experience and expertise. You have 12-15+ years experience in credit risk or collections, including 7+ years in senior leadership, with expertise in secured and unsecured lending, regulatory compliance, and strong analytical and team management skills.
