Senior Director, IDM Regional Access Lead

ROLE SUMMARY

The IMAx International Developed Markets (IDM) Regional Access Lead, the Sr. Director will be responsible for delivering access across Pfizer’s portfolio to drive growth within international IDM markets (Tier 1, Tier 2 & Tier 3), aligned to enterprise prioritisation.

As GAV representative to the IDM Leadership Team (IDM LT) and International Commercial Office Leadership Team (ICO LT), the Sr. Director acts as a trusted advisor to the IDM Regional President and LT, bringing deep payer, HTA policy shaping, and access insights to inform strategic decision‑making. The role partners closely with GAV Business Units, IDM Access Implementation Leads, Global Access Matrix Teams (AMTs), Country Access & Value (CAV), EMCO/ICO, and other cross‑functional stakeholders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • GAV representative on regional extended IDM & International Commercial Office Leadership Teams, providing geographical access expertise to LTs and feedback to GAV on international strategic commercial priorities and other topics impacting the business.
  • Monitor access and pricing regulations in key markets and develop enabling above brand/geography-focused solutions supporting GAV BUs, ICO, and Countries to deliver vs OP assumptions.
  • Partner with GAV Business Units, ICO and Countries on lean and harmonized OP processes and alignment on GAV/CAV priorities to maximize impact
  • Identify new and innovative ways to accelerate access and reduce time to listing across IDM markets.
  • Identify new opportunities for value creation based on an understanding of payer landscapes and challenges and develop and execute innovative approaches to meet payer needs with regional and local cross-functional partners.
  • Apply metrics to assess efforts and demonstrate impact against time to reimbursement, breadth of access, and pricing; and adjust or pivot efforts and plans aligned to enterprise prioritisation.
  • Maintain expertise in country payer environments to identify specific risks and opportunities.
  • Support key regional, above-brand access-related projects in partnership with GAV, IPC, ICO, and countries.
  • Facilitate connection and collaboration across International A&V community, sharing best practice.
  • Shape the external access environment to create a pro-innovation environment for current launches and future pipeline assets. Represent Pfizer position in external engagement e.g. EFPIA market access Working Group, WHO/EURO Novel Medicines Platform etc.

Support IDM and GAV leadership in protecting & improving access across Pfizer portfolio

  • As the Access lead for the IDM LT & IDM CO, provide expertise in payer regulation and priorities across the region and assess and communicate external access trends to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities for the portfolio.
  • Provide strategic partnership on pricing, access & HEOR strategies/tactics for above brand / enterprise projects, including Pfizer’s role on the EFPIA Market Access Working Group.
  • Partner Strategically with International Policy & Communications to drive Access Policy priorities and shape a pro innovative external access environment.
  • Identify new and innovative ways to accelerate access across the region and champion new ways of working aligned to enterprise prioritisation.
  • Track IDM Access Must Wins (Knots) aligned to enterprise prioritisation to gain reimbursement and affordability metrics
  • Foster high level of competency and capability across Country A&V teams
    • Lead and develop forums for continuous skill development
    • Negotiation TLAN (Think Like  a Negotiator) Community of Practice

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, deliver complex access/commercial initiatives on time, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advanced degree in a healthcare, business or economic field strongly preferred (PhD, MD or MBA).

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in healthcare environment, preferably pharmaceutical industry or related consulting services, sufficient to have developed a deep understanding of the payer and market access environment. Country Market Access experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the drug development process.
  • Pharmaceutical business leadership, including experience instrategy development and interaction with external customers.
  • Strong commercial acumen; familiarity with strategic and operating planning processes.
  • Knowledge of key measures used by payers to evaluate innovation including RWE, HE/OR, PE (CE/BI) models.
