What You’ll Be Doing

The mandate of Procurement is to provide sourcing and contracting services utilizing disciplined governance to enable CIBC to effectively execute against its business priorities. Procurement plans, negotiates and executes contracts for the supply of products and services used by CIBC striving for an optimal balance of price, risk, quality and organizational impact. The Procurement team also provides support for CIBC Vendor management programs and CIBC’s purchasing and procurement applications.

CIBC is building a next-generation global Procurement and Third Party Management (TPM) organization. The Head of Procurement Operations Excellence will lead the strategy, performance, digital enablement, and operating rigor that powers our transformation and supports our TPM 360 innovation program. This role builds and leads a global team focused on, amongst others, Spend and Tail Spend Management, Governance and Controls, Process Excellence, Value Delivery, Procurement P2P tooling, Change Management, Supplier Diversity, Market Intelligence and Procurement Performance & Analytics. Reporting to the VP, Procurement, this leader will be central to scaling AI, advanced analytics, and best‑in‑class S2P technologies across CIBC. How You’ll Succeed

  • Stakeholder management - Facilitates internal client management including senior CIBC executives in the commitment to implementing continuous improvement activities relating to Procurement Operations Excellence.
  • Communication and Influence - Communicate directly with Senior CIBC executives on complex transformational activities relating to Procurement Operations Excellence. Must have well-developed influencing skills sufficient to obtain and support executive level management and elicit cooperation and consensus from business leaders in the implementation of programs, and resolve distinct differences of opinion or approach
  • Project Management - Manage any project related activities required to support operational excellence transformation activities, including TPM 360. Represent Procurement, as needed, on Committees or working groups as required by CIBC. In-depth understanding of how to implement and leverage organizational transformation strategies to reach optimal outcomes
  • Leadership - Provide motivation, coaching, training and developmental opportunities to ensure employees are performing at, or developing, to role expectations. This includes providing specialized counsel to staff in the resolution of complex issues. Create a positive work environment by being an effective role model and by creating a winning workplace
  • Risk Management & Industry Knowledge - Ensure Operational Effectiveness and Compliance for all Procurement Operations activities. Ensure appropriate procedures are implemented based on internal guidelines and any issues identified by Governance & Compliance & Internal Audit. Detailed working knowledge (or gain over time) of CIBC’s organization, structure, facilities, policies, processes, products and operating procedures.

Who You Are

  • You are an experienced professional and can demonstrate 10–15+ years in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Business Transformation in global organizations. You have demonstrated success and experience leading Procurement Operations Excellence, Digital Procurement, or S2P transformation in a global, highly regulated organization. Strong track record with AI, automation, analytics, and modern procurement technologies.
  • You are a bold and accountable leader. You have well-developed people management skills. You have experience developing and implementing strategic team goals. You have experience coaching employees and driving successful team performance
  • You have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally to drive transformational change initiatives.
  • You are an innovative and conceptual thinker with advanced analytical interpretation and problem solving abilities and strong ability to develop compelling vision to support strategic objectives.
