As Senior Director, Clinical Development Procurement (CDP) and Category Group Head for Clinical Execution, you will provide strategic leadership and direction across a high-impact portfolio central to BMS’s global clinical development operations. In this role, you will partner closely with internal stakeholders to identify and implement strategic resourcing models—whether through CROs, FSPs, or alternate delivery approaches—that are best aligned to the specific needs of each clinical program. You will serve as an enterprise leader with both a global and local lens, maximizing value from BMS’s clinical execution partnerships and ensuring operational excellence across delivery models. You will define and execute next-generation procurement strategies that leverage automation, analytics, and innovation to enhance performance, strengthen collaboration, and align enterprise stakeholders toward measurable outcomes and sustained value creation.
As a key member of the CDP Leadership Team, this leader will drive transformation from transactional sourcing to strategic orchestration through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), digital enablement, and outcome-based supplier frameworks. The Senior Director leads and inspires a team of procurement professionals to deliver measurable enterprise value by enhancing operational efficiency, accelerating study delivery, and fostering innovation across the clinical development ecosystem.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Strategic & Proactive Leadership
Provide enterprise-level direction across multiple categories and therapeutic areas, ensuring alignment with R&D, Global Procurement, and BMS corporate priorities.
Define and execute transformative category strategies that integrate technology, digital capabilities, and innovative supplier solutions to accelerate clinical development.
Drive cross-enterprise alignment and collaboration through participation in Innovation Councils, Category Steer Cos, and executive governance forums.
Procurement Transformation
Lead modernization initiatives focused on innovative pricing models, enhanced supplier relationship management, and increased transparency and performance.
Evolve procurement operations from transactional to strategic orchestration by embedding advanced analytics, AI-enabled decision tools, and SRM frameworks.
Enterprise Engagement
Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior R&D and enterprise leaders, influencing key investment decisions and supplier partnerships that directly impact drug development timelines and value creation.
Collaborate across Development, Finance, Legal, and Digital functions to ensure cohesive execution of enterprise priorities, championing integration between R&D and Global Procurement. Ensure local perspectives integrated into global strategy at the enterprise level.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and inspire a global team of procurement professionals and senior managers, ensuring clarity of purpose, strong performance management, and succession planning.
Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement—building the next generation of procurement leadership talent.
Value Delivery
Deliver measurable operational, financial, and innovation-driven outcomes by applying advanced category management principles and supplier collaboration frameworks.
Partner with Finance and R&D stakeholders to define and achieve productivity, cost optimization, and innovation targets.
Governance and Risk Management
Strengthen governance and performance oversight across supplier portfolios through structured reviews, KPI monitoring, and contract compliance.
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate supplier and operational risks that could impact study delivery or regulatory compliance.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Champion innovation through supplier co-creation, automation, and next-generation procurement.
Leverage data and analytics to inform strategy, drive transparency, and continuously optimize supplier performance and value delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education of a bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
Minimum of ten to fifteen (10–15) years of relevant biopharmaceutical, life sciences, or related industry experience, with eight to ten (8–10) years in strategic procurement or sourcing leadership—or comparable function.
Demonstrated success leading multi-category global procurement portfolios, managing senior stakeholder relationships, and delivering enterprise-level transformation.
Proven experience in R&D or Development Operations procurement, with a strong understanding of clinical trial operations and supplier ecosystems.
Experience leading global teams and managing senior professionals; track record of mentoring and developing future leaders.
Deep expertise in category management, supplier performance frameworks, and outcome-based contracting models.
Strong financial, analytical, and negotiation skills with a history of driving measurable business value.
Travel Requirements: May be required (domestic and international) for business meetings, supplier visits, and cross functional engagements as needed.

Compensation Overview:
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
