Senior Director, Oncology Scientific Integration

GSK is advancing our Oncology Research Unit (ORU) and seeking experienced leaders to join us. As Senior Director, Oncology Scientific Integration, you will play a central role in translating R&D strategy into actionable results. By bridging the gap between oncology science and market dynamics, you will work closely with ORU leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure our key transformational initiatives drive the success of our portfolio, from discovery through development.

Job Purpose
As Senior Director of Oncology Scientific Integration, you will lead strategic initiatives that connect cutting-edge research with actionable advancements in oncology. Your work will drive alignment, enhance efficiencies, and integrate new tools and methodologies to support GSK’s mission to improve the lives of patients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Oncology Research Unit LT, Oncology PALT and other key stakeholders to advance the adoption, integration and the application of key scientific and transformation initiatives that advance the Oncology strategy
    • Identify key inter-dependencies linking Oncology strategic initiatives to broader R&D strategic initiatives to strengthen connectivity and drive alignment.
    • Drive continuous improvement and innovation by identifying new tools methodologies, cross portfolio technologies that can be piloted and applied to our Oncology R&D portfolio to improve our success rates and decrease our cycle times.
    • Drive the tracking of key project deliverables, with clear go/no-go decision points and associated milestones including critical path and sub-functional plans. Monitor progress against approved plans, noting deviations and suggesting corrective actions.
    • Develop and lead change management efforts to ensure novel scientific strategies or technology is embedded into new ways of working.
    • Proactively identify and escalate business issues and consider options to manage implications and risks to ongoing and future projects.
  • Lead on Oncology Strategy topics within ORU, including representation on Oncology Strategy Forum (OSF) and PALT.
  • Drive strategic alignment across R&D, Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, and Tech organizations to accelerate trial execution, optimize lifecycle management, and maximize launch readiness.
  • Serve as the Secretariat for the Oncology Review Committee, a cross functional technical review team, in partnership with the SVP of Oncology Research and Early Development and SVP of Oncology Clinical Development.
  • Act as the Oncology Research Unit R&D integration lead for new acquisitions (as assigned).
  • Contribute to cross portfolio process improvement initiatives and bring in external perspectives, novel trends and industry standard practices to advance the oncology strategy and pipeline.
  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal GSK standards.

Why You?

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific/business degree (PhD in Life Sciences and/or MBA required).
  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting.
  • 5+ years of experience in drug discovery and development supporting the life sciences industry.
  • Proven track record in program/project management, particularly in managing complex, cross-functional projects within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Direct expertise in biopharmaceutical program planning and change management.
  • Experience using analytical, organizational, and communication skills to drive strategic execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology-specific experience and knowledge of oncology market dynamics.
  • Ability to bring external perspectives and industry trends to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Leadership skills to build alignment, manage cross-functional initiatives, and present strategies to diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements related to global drug development.
  • Highly effective communication skills; able to present complex data, design, strategy to groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to engage in, and contribute to, Oncology Research Unit Culture and broad GSK environment with confidence, impact, integrity, and professionalism.

• If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges $202,500 to $337,500. The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
