As part of the Infrastructure Services Leadership Team, the Senior Director of Hosting and Cloud Services will be responsible for creating and implementing the strategic roadmap for hosting and cloud technologies. This role delivers and operates a large scale of data centers, cloud platforms, physical infrastructure, compute, storage and backups to ensure environments are running efficiently and meeting all regulatory compliance policies. This leader sets direction and leads company-wide strategic initiatives and has accountability to drive transformation across hosting and cloud platforms, manages and communicates across senior level leadership on strategy, projects and effectiveness.
The Senior Director of Hosting and Cloud Services will balance competing priorities, as well as be able to navigate and influence the broader technology organization with the focus on providing relevant solutions, educating and building awareness with the enterprise and driving adoption of technologies across the enterprise. This role will leverage their years of hands-on technical and managerial experience with various infrastructure technologies to deliver solutions and platforms that take Abbott into the future while driving programs to optimize, create operating efficiencies and protect Abbott. This leader will draw on project management and IT service management skills to maximize collaboration and productivity of their staff, along with providing effective management and support for enterprise rollouts of technology solutions and enhancements. Additionally, this leader will directly manage a team of 5-7 senior leaders which includes Sr. Managers, Program Managers, Architects and Directors in delivery of these services and accurately assesses the strengths and development needs of team members.
Primary Job Scope:
- Develop and define the vision, strategy, framework and roadmaps for global Hosting and Cloud Services
- Development of service catalogs, standards and architectures for next generation of platforms and services
- Understand industry best practices and challenge the status quo to support continuous improvement
- Establish IT Infrastructure Services continuity strategy to support Disaster Recovery programs
- Define KPI’s to measure performance of team and deliverables
- Drive operationalization of hosting and cloud strategies with governance, architectural, security, workload placement and prioritization as core developed capabilities
- Drive digital transformation, automation and sustainability across hosting and cloud platforms
- Manage all aspects of quality and audits related to the infrastructure including AQR audits
- Manage a high-performance team of employees and service providers to deliver a quality set of integrated global services with adherence to standard processes, tools, and service levels
- Identify and implement industry aligned “metrics that matter” to continuously improve service levels and reporting
- Actively engage the Senior IT Leadership Team to collaborate on strategic projects and operational alignment with IT applications, infrastructure and security teams
- Lead and coordinate large enterprise strategic initiatives that require cross-functional collaboration and may span multiple years
- Stay abreast of the latest technology trends and develop business cases for future adoption
- Develop functional goals and objectives
- Create, track, and manage annual operating, capital, and project budgets
- Develop a culture of risk taking and innovation driven organization that continuously embraces and adapts to change
- Influences direct reports, clients, service providers and peers to successfully deliver on business commitments

- Develop and foster relationships with critical stakeholders throughout Abbott Information Technology Teams and Business Divisions worldwide to effectively manage change
- Leverage existing processes, or identify opportunities to integrate or develop processes to enable the business to move more quickly and avoid redundant processes

- Previous execution and delivery experience, aligned with the ability and experience of defining technology strategy to best enable and drive the business

Skills/Experience/Requirements:
A successful candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and experiences:
- 15+ years of various experience in Information Technology
- 10+ years of experience managing globally diverse support teams in a large global enterprise
- 15+ years of experience and strong knowledge of technology and industry trends
- Extensive experience of core infrastructure including networking, Hosting (servers, storage and backup), cloud services and virtualization technologies
- Experience leading multi-year cloud transformation programs for large scale organizations
- Experience in Microsoft, Cisco, Azure and AWS technologies
- In-depth knowledge of key AWS, Azure, GCP and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Services such as: IaaS, VM, DB PaaS, App Services, AI, and container management
- Extensive experience working with IT vendors, suppliers and managed services providers
- Ability to bring insight, knowledge, best practices and feedback to strategic discussions
- Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation, influence and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments
- Advanced skills in managing teams in a technical environment
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
The base pay for this position is
$190,000.00 – $380,000.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
