The Role: Sr. Director - LATAM Gas & LNG Consulting

The Team: The current Global Gas & LNG Consulting team has significant expertise on key markets and is scaling up to become the most trusted expert advisor in the global gas industry shaping our clients’ value creation path through the energy transition.

The Sr, Director, LATAM Gas & LNG Consulting will report directly to the Americas Gas & LNG Americas Regional Head, and will work closely with the Global Practice Head and the other Regional heads as part of the Group’s Leadership team. Similarly, the Regional and Global Gas, LNG, and Energy Transition Research teams and the Sales team will provide support to the Global Gas & LNG Consulting Team.

The Impact: The position will have multiple core objectives. As a member of the Gas & LNG Consulting team, this individual will have a primary responsibility for Business Development across the Latin American markets as a first area of focus, while also supporting both North American, EMEA and APAC proposals or engagements when appropriate as a secondary yet critical responsibility.

Furthermore and a Sr. member of the Consulting Leadership team, this Director will also support cross-sector Business Development as a secondary mandate (~25% of total effort), working closely with Sr. Leadership from other Consulting practice areas (historically Gas & LNG will interact more regularly with the “Upstream” and “Power, Energy Transition and Critical Minerals” consulting teams, but this will evolve on an ad-hoc basis). Examples of activities aligned with this core area of responsibility are (1) regularly engaging core clients (2) participating in regional conferences (3) proactive BD campaigns (visits, white papers, etc.) (3) leading or supporting consulting proposal development, etc.

From a Project Execution Perspective, this individual will act as Project Director on complex engagements across the region (primarily but not limited to LATAM-focused Gas & LNG engagements), with overall responsibility over final deliverables.

Practice Building will be a key additional area of responsibility – the individual will be responsible for team building, coaching and mentoring core team members across the LATAM team in particular (and the broader team), pushing for continuous development of our team’s core consulting skills and instilling best practices across all deliverables (client-facing and internal).

Finally, thought leadership and brand recognition: the individual will be responsible for pushing the boundaries of the Gas & LNG team’s areas of expertise and capabilities (as part of the broader Leadership Team), and to act as “brand ambassador” representing CERA Consulting in regional conferences.

Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Gas & LNG Consulting’s Leadership Team, this individual will opine, provide inputs (regional business plans, targets, metrics) and collaborate with Global team on overall business direction and leadership for the full practice area. For global discussions within the practice, this individual will represent the objectives and opportunities across the Latin American markets (jointly with Americas head)

  • Lead Business Development and revenue generation in the practice area in partnership with other senior practice members and the sales and subscription services teams. Primary responsibility will be the Latin American markets, but under a global cross-regional integrated model, will support other regions as needed

  • As a Sr. Consulting Team member based in LATAM, individual will have a secondary responsibility for LATAM cross-sector business development (~25% of the time), collaborating with Consulting Leadership from other practice areas

  • Similarly, as a Sr. Consulting Team member based in Mexico, individual will have a secondary mandate as a Mexico Consulting Lead, coordinating larger BD efforts and proposals in collaboration with other more Jr. Mexico-based team members

  • Participate as a Senior team member in global talent recruitment, development, and retention

  • Project manager consulting studies to ensure the highest standards of deliverables, client satisfaction and project profitability

  • Mentor Jr. Consultants and instill best practices and high-quality standards across all deliverables revised

  • Manage client relationships and communications together with other senior practice members. Clients include corporates, investors, financials, utilities, infrastructure players, project developers, and governments

  • Provide thought leadership in internal and external communications

  • Coordinate with various elements of the S&P Global research organization to ensure continued thought leadership on key issues facing the industry

What We’re Looking For:

  • Significant Commercial and Strategy consulting experience in energy, global gas and LNG. In-depth understanding of the energy markets across at least one large LATAM country would be beneficial

  • Extensive professional network in the natural gas, LNG, and low carbon gas industry across the region

  • Thought leader in the energy, gas & LNG space, including IP development

  • Proven Track-record in Business Development and Practice-Development leadership

  • Significant experience in building high-performing teams in energy, gas or LNG industry-focused consulting

  • Passion for team building and mentorship
