Senior Director of Clinical Programs - Patient Experience & Activation

Clinical Transformation Team

At DaVita, we’re redefining what it means to care for patients with kidney disease. We are seeking a Senior Director of Clinical Programs to lead the design and execution of high-impact patient experience and activation strategies across two critical parts of our business: our value-based care organization (DaVita IKC) and our dialysis operations (DaVita Kidney Care).

This is a unique opportunity to shape how patients experience and engage in their care at some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives—while partnering across clinical, operational, and technology teams to bring those strategies to life.

What You’ll Do

This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, requiring a leader who can translate bold ideas into practical, scalable programs that sustainably improve patient outcomes and experience. This teammate will lead an established team of 6-8 individuals, ranging from analyst to senior manager. This teammates will also serve as a trusted thought partner to senior executives, influencing enterprise priorities related to clinical program design & patient engagement.

1. Elevate the Patient Experience

Design and lead a patient experience program centered on three core pillars:

  • Great Interactions: Equip care teams with best-in-class communication and engagement skills to ensure every interaction builds trust and delivers value.

  • Follow-Through that Matters: Ensure we consistently deliver on patient needs—turning commitments into action and strengthening long-term relationships.

  • Service Recovery: Build systems to identify when we fall short and rapidly “make it right,” using patient feedback and tools like real-time survey insights to close the loop.

 2. Activate Patients in Their Clinical Journey

Drive strategies that empower patients—especially during their most overwhelming early experiences with dialysis, with the goal of improving clinical outcomes:

  • Teammate Enablement: Train and support frontline care teams to engage patients with empathy, actively listen, and co-create meaningful care plans.

  • Patient Journey Redesign: Reimagine how patients experience care during critical moments that matter. Starting with new patients, you will re-think how we should prioritize and sequence information to maximize patient adoption and meet patients where they are.

  • You’ll also bring a critical lens to patient segmentation, ensuring education and engagement strategies align with a patient’s readiness, especially for those who enter dialysis unexpectedly and face complex health challenges.

 What You Bring

  • Strategic Thinking: A proven ability to connect the big picture to operational realities—you don't just design bold, multi-year visions; you build structure and execute to bring them to life.

  • Get the Right Stuff Done (GRSD): Proven experience taking ownership of clinical programs—ideally within complex or chronic care populations—to deliver sustainable, outcomes-driven results. You are a highly analytical problem solver who leverages data and feedback to iterate quickly and drive continuous improvement.

  • Develop Self & Others: Strong track record of building high performing teams & managing leadership teams. You naturally attract, retain, and nurture top talent while driving engagement.

  • Drive Change: You thrive in ambiguity & are adept at building structure where none exists. You have proven experience leading cross-functional teams through transformational change at scale.

  • Thought leadership: You continuously benchmark against industry best practices & emerging trends to ensure DaVita remains a leader in patient experience & activation.

  • Lead the DaVita Way: You lead with deep emotional intelligence and situational leadership, consistently aligning your actions with DaVita's Core Values and fostering a culture of belonging.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 8-10+ years of progressive experience in clinical program management, healthcare operations, population health, or a related field—ideally working with complex, chronic, or high-acuity patient populations.

  • Leadership: 5+ years of people leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing and developing other leaders (Managers/Directors).

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline is highly preferred.
