Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring AmeriLife’s health affiliates maintain strict adherence to all CMS marketing requirements, in addition to other relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. The Sr. Director will support the ongoing management and oversight of the company’s Health Distribution compliance program, with a particular emphasis on interpreting, implementing, and monitoring CMS and carrier marketing regulations and guidance. This position requires close collaboration with management and staff to address compliance matters, as they relate to marketing and sales practices in the company’s health insurance business.

Job Description

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Monitor, interpret, and ensure compliance with CMS and carrier sales regulations, particularly as they pertain to marketing and advertising practices within AmeriLife’s health affiliates.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on CMS sales and marketing requirements in the development, implementation, and revision of marketing policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Support internal partners in understanding and meeting compliance obligations for marketing campaigns, sales presentations, websites, lead vendor materials, and other public-facing communications.
  • Oversee and lead AmeriLife’s advertising review unit, which is responsible for reviewing and approving marketing materials to ensure alignment with CMS standards and industry best practices and filing such materials with carriers and CMS.
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of compliance issues, specifically related to the marketing and sale of health insurance products, both in retail and wholesale environments across all AmeriLife Health Distribution affiliates and partners.
  • Develop and deliver training or informational resources to keep internal staff and affiliate management informed of evolving CMS marketing requirements.
  • Work with data analytics and reporting tools to monitor marketing compliance risks, document findings, and implement corrective actions, as needed, and report to Compliance and Health Distribution leadership.
  • Implement new sales material review system and ensure smooth roll-out to affiliates for submission and review processes.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a compliance role within the health insurance industry.
  • Experience with CMS and carrier sales requirements, with a strong understanding of their application to marketing practices.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills to support compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex regulatory information effectively to various audiences, including senior management and sales professionals.
  • Analytical skills to assess marketing activities and identify potential compliance risks.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams to ensure shared compliance objectives are met, especially in high-risk marketing contexts.
  • Skill in prioritizing tasks to focus resources on matters of greatest compliance risk related to CMS marketing requirements.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a group of compliance professionals that manages a high-volume workload to ensure they are motivated and performing at a high level.
