Summary:
The Sr. Director of Benefits is responsible for the strategic design, governance, and operational excellence of the organization’s benefit programs. This role ensures that benefit programs are competitive, innovative, cost effective, compliant and aligned with the organization’s total rewards philosophy. This role is responsible for overseeing the selection, implementation, and maintenance of any supporting technologies or vendor relationships and ensuring data integrity within the systems. This role leads cross-functional initiatives, manages vendor relationships, and serves as a subject matter expert on health and welfare, retirement, leave and wellbeing programs. Benefits programs include health & welfare (medical, dental, vision, disability, life, FSA, HSA), retirement (401(k)), leave, tuition, and well-being programs.
The focus of this role is on U.S. benefits but will also manage some international benefit programs and vendors.
Essential Functions:
Manage vendor relationships, to include selecting, evaluating and managing terms of service.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations and reporting requirements to include 5500 filings, plan audits, and participant notice requirements. (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPPA, ADA)
Lead plan design and cost-sharing strategy in conjunction with brokers and vendors to ensure cost effective, competitive and compliant plan offerings.
Partner with leadership and finance to forecast benefits costs and create long-term strategic plans.
Oversee benefits data integrity and collaborate with HR Technology on system enhancements.
Lead RFP processes when evaluating new vendors or benefit programs.
Collaborate with payroll, HR Technology, finance, and HR business partners to ensure seamless benefits delivery.
Develop, review, update all benefit policies within the employee handbook.
Develop clear, accessible benefits communication materials and education strategies.
Lead, mentor and develop benefit team members.
Evaluate industry trends, benchmark data, and regulatory changes to recommend enhancements or redesigns of benefit plans and policies.
Manage annual enrollment, including planning, communication, and system configuration.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
10+ years of progressive experience in benefits management, with at least 5 years in a management role.
Proven experience in administration of benefits programs, plan design, vendor negotiations.
Strategic planner with attention to detail, analytical ability with a strong operational focus.
Strong collaboration skills with ability to work with a diversity of colleagues and partners.
Hands on leader with ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, clearly communicate expectations. and meet tight timelines.
Previous experience with Workday preferred.
Previous experience in compensation or a total rewards role beneficial.
