Position Summary

Join Illumina's cutting-edge Scientific Computing powerhouse as a Sr. DevOps Engineer, driving AI/ML breakthroughs in genomics (Gemini, Dragen, Deep Learning). Automate resilient cloud and on-prem platforms with Python/Go, Ansible, Kubernetes/Rancher, and Docker. Optimize Linux clusters, troubleshoot at scale, and ensure unbreakable performance for bioinformatics and manufacturing.

Hands-on impact: Faster resolutions, seamless Dragen deployments, and future-proof infrastructure. 

Responsibilities

  • Automation and implementation of highly available and resilient platforms on-premise and in Cloud.

  • Implementation and maintenance of workflows and procedures to ensure consistency and auditability in a managed infrastructure.

  • Automating away the need for manual installation and direct intervention.

  • Write and peer review automation code with an eye to creating a flexible, scalable codebase.

  • Provide third level support and administration for the Enterprise Informatics global estates.

  • Troubleshooting and creating tools to resolve incidents.

  • Proactive design and optimization of network and storage data flows, including monitoring.

  • Work within and enforce security and regulatory compliance procedures.

  • Document and communicate procedures, configurations and standards effectively.

Requirements

  • Programming skills – python, go, ruby, and various scripting

  • Expertise in administration, configuration, optimization and monitoring of Linux at scale. CentOS and Amazon Linux are our base distributions.

  • Experience with AWS cloud-based deployment and support.

  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm

  • The ability to pick up new technologies quickly and rapidly deep-dive

  • Use of large-scale data processing tools such as Elastic Search, Grafana.

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting network services.

  • A strong preference for collaborative teamwork and work/knowledge sharing.

  • Be comfortable speaking with internal customers, and suppliers.

  • A driving need to have to fix a problem only once

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr DevOps Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $118,200 - $177,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
