Sr. Data Platform Engineer

US - VA - Remote Full time

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer with at least 8-10 years of experience to join our data architecture team. This individual will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing end-to-end data solutions across cloud platforms, with a focus on Snowflake, AWS, and modern data governance and analytics tools. A strong understanding of education technology and compliance frameworks is a big plus.

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data architecture solutions using Snowflake and AWS.
  • Lead architecture and design of ELT/ETL pipelines using Python, Fivetran, shell scripting and dbt
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business partners, data engineers, analysts, product managers, compliance teams and information security to translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
  • Ensure regulatory and data privacy compliance in data design and usage, particularly in the context of education data.
  • Optimize cost and performance of data solutions in cloud environments.
  • Ensure full lifecycle development standards are followed

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Minimum REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 8-10 years of experience in data architecture and data engineering.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake in production environments.
  • 3-5 years of custom python and shell script development.
  • Strong expertise with AWS services, particularly those relevant to data warehousing, data lakes, and security (e.g., S3, Lambda, IAM).
  • Knowledgeable of dbt and modern ETL/ELT frameworks; Experience w/ Fivetran a big plus.
  • Experience and familiarity with information security and network frameworks.
  • Experience with relationship databases including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
  • Solid understanding of data security, privacy regulations (FERPA, GDPR, etc.), audit (SOC) and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to design enterprise-scale data architecture that aligns with business strategy.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with consultative mindset.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with IT teams and across business stakeholders in consultive fashion.
  • Experience in the education technology sector or working with educational data is big plus.
  • Experience in large scale initiatives in both consultative and technical leadership roles.
  • Certifications in Snowflake, AWS, or data governance tools are a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience in the education technology sector or working with educational data is big plus
  • Experience in large scale initiatives in both consultative and technical leadership roles
  • Certifications in Snowflake, AWS, or data governance tools are a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level.  Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections.  Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.

  • We anticipate the salary range to be $81,045.75- $174,000.00. An individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors which include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
