Primary Duties
1. Performs and may lead a full range of activities associated with cathodic protection systems as applicable for compliance. Performs such work in accordance with Company, regulatory and safety procedures.
2. Collects information to aid in the design of cathodic protection systems.
3. Conducts electrical surveys and current requirement tests for the installation maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of cathodic protection systems.
4. Inspects and monitors corrosion control work of contractor and company crews including the installation of anodes, test stations, beds, rectifiers and insulation fittings.
5. Works closely with Pipeline Integrity Management team in the design, location and inspection of ground bed cathodic protection systems. Leads various direct assessment and other activities related to Pipeline Integrity Management projects.
6. Maintains maps and records pertinent to cathodic protection systems.
7. Trains, mentors and directs other employees new to the function and engaged in similar duties.
8. Takes the lead in applying new technology and skills to accomplish tasks and may teach them to others.
9. Interacts and helps build positive relationships with regulatory auditors.
10. Performs activities to assure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
11. Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
12. Works with project specialists and engineering when new steel pipe systems are being designed, relocated or replaced.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. May be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours.
2. Is subject to reporting outside regular work area.
3. Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion.
4. Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
5. Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company’s values, strategies, policies and procedures and exhibits the core values of AtmoSpirit, Customer Service, Safety and the Company’s Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others.
6. Must become familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live by the spirit of its intent and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment. Must complete all required safety training.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Experience Level:
High school diploma or equivalent plus three years' experience as Corrosion Control Technician; or equivalent.
Successful completion of Corrosion Learning Path training, OJT and Operator Qualifications (OQ).
Certificates, Licenses, etc.:
While at this level, must obtain and maintain any other required OQs and classroom training or certifications.
Must hold Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) certification.
Requires valid driver's license in accordance with company standards.
Computer Skills:
Records management system experience is required.
Requires a working knowledge of various software applications to create documents, reports and graphical design.
Communication Skills:
Requires the ability to communicate with internal/external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information.
Work Conditions:
Work requires occasional access to customer property.
Works outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain.
May require extensive and/or overnight travel.
May have a residency requirement.
Physical Demands:
Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
Requires the acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell.
Requires extensive walking on a daily basis.
Must be able to lift tools, equipment and materials up to and including 60 pounds.
1. Ability to lift 53 pounds from the ground to 52 inches. (Ex: lifting and operating fire extinguisher) 2. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch. 3. Ability to walk a distance of 500 feet
Other Requirements:
As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
