The Role

Coupling deep manufacturing and business process knowledge with an understanding of automation issues, the AspenTech professional services organization is distinctively qualified to help customers transform their business. With over 25 years of exclusive service to the process industries, we help over 1200 companies find significant economic benefits through the strategic application of automation and IT solutions. Our worldwide services organization has centuries of cumulative process industry experience spanning: oil and gas, petroleum, chemicals, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals and consumer products.

This position will require expertise in System and Computer Science (networking, cybersecurity, architecture), interfacing (communication protocols, OPC/DA, OPC/UA) and DCS/Instrumentation. This position is for a qualified engineer to join our team in Pisa, Italy

Your Impact

  • Analyze networks and being able to support customers in defining the best possible architecture for a given APC application.
  • Understand differences between RTDB and Relational Database
  • Install and configure AspenTech MSC software including web security
  • Understand cybersecurity issues and how they impact OT/IT infrastructure and interfacing
  • Understand how to design/implement APC/DCS interface
  • Complete database changes, implementing complex calculations for data analysis.
  • Understand concepts of closed loop control (computer, DCS, PID control) and assist in controller interface database and configuration.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
    experience. MS or PhD will be preferred. Study curriculum including Control Theory will be preferred.
  • 4+ years experience in the field of networking and interfacing. Industrial
    experience on DCS will be preferred.
  • Demonstrable communication and coaching skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of Virtualization, on edge and on premise architecture.
  • Understand concepts of data collection and be able to manipulate data files and collections lists accurately.  As well as understand concepts of
    “transformation” and be able to transform variables for data analysis.
  • Knowledge of concepts of closed loop control (computer, DCS, PID control).
  • Able and willing to travel at least 30% of time since the job includes installation configuration and testing activities at client sites. No Visa limitation for
    travelling around most Countries
  • Fluency in English is required

Optional Qualifications (they will be a plus):

  • Proficient in Aspen on-line and off-line tools.
  • Exposure and ability to work with AspenTech APC and MES products will be an advantage.
  • Fluency in any other language will be a plus
