The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of the following location:

Columbus: Three Nationwide Plaza, Columbus OH, 43215 

Work schedule: 2 days in office, 3 days remote.

We’re seeking a strategic Product Manager who is both a driver and an integrator of people and ideas, providing clear product leadership for our automation agenda. This leadership role owns the Workflow & Capture portfolio for NF Shared Business Solutions, with responsibility for workflow, capture, and automation products that serve NF businesses.

As an automation visionary, this role sets the future direction for how intelligent workflow, capture, and process automation evolve at Nationwide Financial; connecting emerging technologies with legacy capabilities to deliver digital-first experiences and straight-through processing.

The successful candidate will own financial targets and KPIs, turn strategy into outcome-based product roadmaps and coordinated execution with key partners, and regularly communicate a clear, data-backed view of progress, risks, and next steps to senior leaders.

As a Sr Consultant, you will be influencing others, leading teams, managing stakeholders, and communicating clearly in a agile work environment with a test and learn mentality.

You will also be accountable and responsible for the end-to-end delivery of products and journeys that are in alignment with planning unit strategies, customer experience expectations, etc. You will ensure that business and customer needs are clearly understood and represented in the implementation of solutions while meeting the needs and expectations of the key stakeholders. You will champion the right opportunity aligning it to strategic priorities and enterprise capabilities. You'll need an in-depth understanding of the industry and the underlying technologies that need to come together in order to deliver on internal business outcomes and, more importantly, customer related outcomes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Works with business unit leadership teams to understand the planning unit strategies and integrated / operational plans/macro level business outcomes in order to develop an appropriate Business Capability roadmap that meets the business strategies and business level outcomes with a customer-centric focus.  Communicates with stakeholders and business partners to ensure continued alignment on progress and results with desired business outcomes. Develops business cases and presents for funding requests to senior-level business, technology and finance leaders.                     

  • Works with a cross-functional team to ensure fulfillment of product and journey outcomes, evaluates product and journey performance and ensures expected customer value will be achieved based upon the definitions of success and adoption vs. outputs generated. Will maintain close partnership and collaboration with product and journey owners and analysts to understand business and functional requirements that have an impact on the solutions to be deployed and any adjacent solutions that could be impacted.                                                                                                                                  

  • Partners with technology provider and vendors to identify new capabilities and help advance the Business Capability offering. Works with enterprise/business architecture to align technology feasibility in support of solutions and partners with Business Capability Owners, User Experience (UX) and Nationwide Technology to establish release plans for the Business Capability.  Defines, monitors and analyzes metrics that inform the success of the solutions.                                                                                                                    

  • Keeps current on industry trends and the overall marketplace to assess product and journey effectiveness and identify potential opportunities. Accountable for recommending new products and journeys, enhancements to existing products /journeys and/or innovate features to increase business value.                                                     

  • Acts as a source of expertise for direction, mentoring and guidance for Business Capability Owners, Business Capability Analysts and Agile Teams. Provides direction for multiple Business Capability s/value streams, Business Capability owners, and Business Capability analysts.                                  

  • Represents the product and journey roadmap when interacting with other organizations or teams to coordinate strategies across the enterprise. This includes providing benefits and results in alignment with established business cases.                                                                                                             

  • Manages risks; ensures staffing resources, budget, and research are invested in the right areas to achieve maximum benefit. Further, is accountable for all communication of production status and issues to leadership teams and stakeholders while working with product and journey owners and analysts as they prepare overall schedules, milestones, tasks and estimates. 

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.   

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/AVP. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:   

Education: Bachelors degree in business, IT or related field with advanced degree preferred. 

Experience: Typically, 10 or more years in product management, including building and leading high performing teams. Product, operations, business or software engineering background is preferred. 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:  Expert knowledge of insurance and investment securities products and services. Must possess an entrepreneurial mindset combined with a curiosity for continuous learning.  Familiarity with data visualization techniques combined with strong presentation skills.  Demonstrated ability to steer enterprise-wide change such as change in business model, restructuring operations, new technologies, mergers, major collaborations, etc. Strategic problem solver with the ability to identify innovative and creative ways to bring experiences to life and solve key business problems. Deep understanding of agile planning and delivery methodologies in a product management environment.  Strong project and process management skills. Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Capable of negotiating and interacting with senior leadership, internal and external partners.  Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, proven ability to influence others internally and externally -- more specifically, adept at articulating complex technical information in an easy-to-understand way.

The national salary range for Sr Consultant, Business Capability Team Management : $138,000.00-$243,000.00

The expected starting salary range for Sr Consultant, Business Capability Team Management : $138,000.00 - $206,000.00
