The Sr. Consultant, Annuity Marketing Optimization/Staff Administration is accountable for support in delivering Annuity sales and Annuity profitability by driving collaboration and optimization of marketing initiatives and programs that support the work across the Annuity Marketing organization. This role is accountable for coordinating associated marketing strategies, plans and execution, leveraging data to drive marketing investment optimization, and influencing alignment and collaboration with Annuity business partners through this staff administrative role.
The Sr. Consultant, Annuity Marketing Optimization/Staff Operations is responsible for building strong organizational capabilities and solidifying marketing as a key partner across all functional areas, while mobilizing resources against strategic priorities, and enabling associates to understand their role in achieving the Annuity vision.
Strategic Responsibility:
of Annuity Marketing Strategy: working across Annuity Marketing team to aggregate and pull insights around our core audiences together to inform the broad Annuity Marketing strategy. Works with Annuity Distribution, Annuity Product and Cross Annuity Marketing teams to create business cases, portfolio management and marketing performance to support the Annuity business strategy.
Delivering Marketing Effectiveness and Value: Drives focus on top return on investment initiatives within Annuities. Leverages data and results to optimize marketing investments, drive strategic decisions, and to deliver business value. Recommends budget and marketing activities. Determines return on investment and evaluates effectiveness of product marketing programs; adjusts accordingly.
Ownership of Annuity Marketing Strategic Administration: Supports Annuity Marketing Leadership team on strategic projects and administration. This includes, managing overall budget / looking for efficiency and benefits realization, delivery of strategic priorities from Annuity Business as well as overall Marketing organization with monthly Annuity Council, Quarterly Performance Reviews, scorecard, communication plans and team engagement.
Champions Marketing Collaboration: Works across the Marketing organization to leverage investments and resources to support the Annuity Marketing strategy and business objectives. Encourages team agility, collective resource impact, and shared best practices. Drives alignment with partners on defined priorities and goal clarity to increase decision velocity.
Inspires Marketing Innovation: Improves marketing plans and initiatives by employing a test and learn philosophy and delivers insights to optimize the Annuity business portfolio. Owns the innovation and refinement of marketing programs that drive profitable product growth objectives and delivers on key marketing efficiency metrics.

This hybrid position is based in Columbus, OH. Candidates located near a Nationwide campus will collaborate in office 3 days per week. Current remote associates may be considered.

Ensures programs are on strategy and on schedule.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/Associate Vice President/Vice President. This is an individual contributor and may manage a team based on organizational structure; may also lead virtual and project teams.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field; graduate degree highly desirable.
License/Certification/Designation: Technical insurance designations such as CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FLMI considered a plus. Additional licensing may be required to hold this position and associates will need to acquire the required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the designated time period. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails to acquire required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.
Experience: Typically, 10 or more years related professional experience in marketing, field sales management, insurance or related field. Master’s degree may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirements as appropriate. Prior marketing development and project leadership exposure/experience preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: In-depth knowledge of marketing methodologies, insurance and/or financial services products including regulatory environment, distribution systems, and customers preferred. Knowledge of product distribution methods. Ability to develop and review research studies, communicate research findings, market recommendations based on findings, develop and negotiate contracts/service agreements with internal/external contacts, and lead multiple projects planning projects. Ability to function independently or in a team environment. Demonstrates core marketing proficiencies, including strategy development, utilization of insights and analytics, building brand equity and developing effective marketing communications. Command of and ability to understand and deliver customer focus, operating capabilities, and strategic capabilities.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
