The Sr Clinical Strategist responsibilities require application of critical thinking, effective problem solving, and decision making to influence not only to the outcomes of our population, but to improve programs and processes across the organization. The Strategist will lead enterprise-wide projects, using a clinical approach, which make systemic improvements to GEHA’s ability to impact health outcomes for our members.

The Sr Clinical Strategist is a consulting level professional with broad experience and in-depth knowledge in a specialized area and a strong business acumen. Incumbents contribute to the organization’s strategic goals, acting independently to achieve results. They will function as an advisor to Senior Leadership inside and outside the division.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilizes strategic foresight, experience, and critical thinking abilities to not only solve for today’s problems but to create, plan and effectively implement solutions for future challenges also proactively.
  • Produce and present high-quality executive communications, including written documents and presentations, tailored to senior leadership audiences and organizational priorities.
  • Maintains proficiency in evidence-based practice, integrating into organizational workflows, and supporting benefit design.
  • Experience and application of the latest industry best practices, research findings, market trends, and innovations in healthcare to inform strategic planning and decision-making. 
  • Work collaboratively across the leadership team at the department, division, and focused organization level.
  • Taking a broad concept or idea, autonomously developing a full strategy, including implementation, education, system’s needs, and outcome measurement.
  • Acts as advisor and subject matter expert senior leadership, highlighting opportunities and risks within the clinical operations landscape.
  • Understanding and experience in clinical information systems, data models, and documentation platforms.
  • Does not have direct reports, but leads large initiatives across the department, including process improvements, productivity, and audit.
  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED – This role is designed to fill any need that the team or our membership may have.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or related field and 5 years of experience in healthcare or strategy with a minimum of 1 year of experience in strategy or a degree in business, healthcare, or related field and 10+ years of experience in healthcare or strategy with a minimum of 1 year of experience in strategy.
  • Professional state-issued license with a clinical designation (e.g., RN, Dietitian, Physical Therapist, Social Worker, etc.). 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strategic foresight to not only address current issues but also plan and prepare for future challenges over the long term, typically in the 3 – 5-year range.
  • Strong healthcare acumen.
  • Strong understanding of value-based care, healthcare payment models, emerging trends, and technology.
  • Data-driven strategic making
  • A strategic approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to define, implement, and measure strategy.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, including adherence to project scope, schedule, etc.
  • Strong leadership qualities through effective communication, presentation, influence, and collaboration.
  • Meticulous with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the healthcare industry.
  • Occasional travel to Kansas City metro is required.
  • Behavioral Health experience is preferred but not required

Work-at-home requirements

  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.
  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms
  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.  G.E.H.A considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

The hiring range for this position is $100,712 - $127,407 USD. At G.E.H.A, the current maximum salary for this role is $141,968 USD. While initial compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications, there is a path to work toward this top rate through performance and continued growth within the organization.
