Job Description

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Management of external Buyouts and inter-company finished goods purchasing. High complexity / long lead time globally located suppliers and after a period of development in role, supporting a small team of Junior/s Buyers to develop their skills in SCM. This role is about getting material expedited, fixing root cause issues to create a seamless supply of finished goods to meet the strategic inventory policy or customer requested date. Working cross functionally to improve the data, systems, processes to enrich the customer experience.

PRINCIPLE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Availability

  • Create, reschedule, and cancel purchase orders in alignment with MRP requirements.
  • Maintain accurate order book records in the system at all times.
  • Expediting and escalating supply chain issues in a timely manner to fix problems before impacting company sales and customer need by dates.

Supplier Management

  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers to ensure consistent performance and alignment with business objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance using defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and take proactive measures to address deviations or risks.
  • Oversee daily supplier operations to ensure timely delivery of goods in the correct quantity and quality.
  • Conduct regular supply chain risk assessments with suppliers and implement mitigation strategies to prevent disruptions.
  • Partner with the Quality Department to resolve supplier-related quality issues efficiently and sustainably.
  • Working with Fulfilment and Global SCM teams to enhance customer delivery performance by reducing lead times and implementing strategic inventory solutions such as buffer stock programs.

Inventory Management

  • Proactively seek ways to improve lead time to optimize the inventory holding requirements in each hub.
  • Implement and maintain safety stock and/or Min-Max inventory strategies
  • Participate in monthly inventory / S&OP reviews, to understand forecasts or safety stock/Min-Max strategies, to ensure timely replenishment of such
  • Collaborate with inventory control and warehouse teams to align procurement with inventory strategies.

Project /Contract Management

  • With dotted line reporting into Global Supply Chain / Procurement; support contractual negotiations to ensure any new agreement covers the fulfilment needs; delivery, inventory, logistics, liability of inventory, buffer and consignment terms etc..
  • Work together with global teams on supplier improvement programs or initiatives
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and value engineering efforts.

Mentoring People (future requirement, as Fulfilment organization develops)

  • Review workload within the team and assign supplier accounts needing strong management or where immediate improvement in performance required, to oneself.
  • Daily mentoring, training, and supporting a small team of Junior buyer/s as they develop in the role

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Qualification(s)

  • Business, or related subject, Degree.

Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience of mechanical/electronics purchasing for a manufacturing company
  • Global purchasing experience, management of strategic accounts and sole sourced parts
  • Proven record of solving shortages
  • Analytical and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication skills; all levels internally and externally, with confidence.
  • MRP management in Oracle/Akira essential
