The Role
The Sr. AV Engineer is responsible for supporting and operating enterprise Unified Communications technologies across global offices, where service quality and reliability are business-critical. This role serves as a subject matter expert for Cisco RoomOS-based video conferencing endpoints, supports UC platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex, and acts as a backup resource for core Cisco UC services, including call control. In addition to UC responsibilities, the role supports the AV technologies that directly interface with Cisco endpoints to ensure consistent, high-quality in-room collaboration experiences. The UC/AV Engineer partners closely with IT, AV, Facilities, and external vendors, owns Features and Stories that contribute to the UC/AV roadmap, and supports both remote and on-site operations. This position requires a hybrid working model with a minimum of three (3) full days on-site per week to support conference rooms, live meetings, escalations, and business-critical collaboration services.
Responsibilities
Serve as a primary technical resource for Unified Communications technologies, with a strong focus on enterprise video conferencing platforms and collaboration services.
Act as a subject matter expert for Cisco video conferencing endpoints and RoomOS device management, including configuration, monitoring, firmware management, and lifecycle support.
Support and administer UC platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, and associated conferencing services, ensuring reliability and scalability across the corporate environment.
Serve as a backup to senior UC engineering resources responsible for the Cisco UC stack, assisting with escalations, incidents, and planned maintenance activities.
Provide operational support for conference room environments, focusing on AV technologies that interface directly with Cisco video endpoints, including cameras, microphones, speakers, displays, and control surfaces.
Deliver on-site support a minimum of three (3) full days per week, including hands-on troubleshooting of conferencing spaces, endpoint verification, and support for in-person meetings and escalations.
Support live meetings, executive sessions, and high-visibility events where UC reliability and rapid issue resolution are critical.
Collaborate with IT, AV, Facilities, Real Estate, and external vendors to resolve complex UC and endpoint-adjacent AV issues and support new builds, renovations, and technology refreshes.
Own and contribute to Epics, Features, and Stories within the UC/AV roadmap, including defining requirements, participating in planning cycles, executing deliverables, and supporting continuous service improvement initiatives.
Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures, and participate in on-call rotations and change management processes supporting business-critical communications systems.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience supporting Unified Communications technologies in an enterprise environment
Strong hands-on experience supporting Cisco video conferencing endpoints and RoomOS-based devices in an enterprise environment
Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting UC platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Webex
Experience with Cisco UC and video collaboration ecosystems, including Call Manager, CMS, WebEx Control Hub
Experience supporting conference room technologies and understanding how AV systems integrate with UC endpoints
Working knowledge of AV fundamentals (audio signal flow, video routing, basic control concepts) sufficient to troubleshoot endpoint-adjacent issues
Ability and willingness to work on-site a minimum of three (3) full days per week in a corporate office environment
Willingness to adjust on-site presence as required to support incidents, live events, or business-critical needs
Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network-reliant systems
Experience working with senior engineers, vendors, and cross-functional technical teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and escalation management
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Skills
Experience with Cisco Expressway (Core and Edge), Cisco Meeting Server (CMS), and TelePresence Management Suite (TMS) in enterprise video and collaboration environments
CCNA Collaboration and Network
AVIXA CTS/CTS-D
Experience supporting Microsoft Teams environments, including Teams Meetings, Teams Rooms, Teams Voice, and use of the Teams Admin Center
Experience monitoring and troubleshooting voice and video call quality, including analysis of packet loss, latency, jitter, and media path issues
Location
This role will be hybrid, located in our Los Angeles office.
Compensation
The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $115,000 - $132,000. This position also is eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
