JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview:
The Senior Applications Engineer assists customers in setting up processes on Axcelis ion implantation. This role requires many of the same skills and knowledge that our customers’ process engineers require, and is a high-level support function with process engineering and equipment characterization components.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical support for all segments of the organization

  • Provide reactive and proactive technical support for customers including machine and process troubleshooting

  • Perform individually or with peers on scientific or engineering projects

  • Perform scientific or mathematical analysis and calculations

  • Design/conduct/directs complex laboratory experiments/field tests to ascertain hitherto unknown information

  • Interpret and communicate results

  • Prepare detailed scientific reports and comprehensive proposals

  • Contribute ideas which improve our product or processes

  • Understand and interpret business and technology trends

  • Publish technical papers, application notes, manuals and presents seminars to train others

  • Perform other related duties or similar nature and complexity as directed


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and interpret technical papers, standards, specifications and emerging technology trends.

  • Reviews and studies professional literature and other wise maintains and improves current technical skills

  • Discuss and write about technical issues

  • Provide guidance and information resources in order to train and develop others.

  • Present technical results and product information at conferences and support of marketing and sales objectives

Skills, Knowledge & Ability:
 

Ability to:

  • SDS/Toxic gas handling and use of respiratory

  • Work in clean room environment
     

Knowledge of:

  • Multiple aspects of semiconductor equipment subsystems

  • Basic implanter or Diffusion physics

  • Beam optics

  • Dosimetry systems

  • Vacuum technology

  • Temperature measurement systems

  • Semiconductor fabrication and device physics

  • Clean room protocols and wafer processing

  • Implant chemical analysis techniques

  • Implant and wafer metrology

  • Basic business, accounting & financial practices

  • Basic management techniques and supervising others

Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelors Degree in a related field with 6-8 years of experience, or a Masters Degree in a related field with 4-6 years of experience.
 

Travel Requirement: 0-25%

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$126,639.20 - $189,958.80

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on

multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work

location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as

you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the

Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular

employees working 20+ hours a week).
