The Senior Application Engineer role offers the opportunity to join an exciting, highly motivated team where your expertise in Finite Element Analysis will help customers succeed with Cadence’s advanced CAE simulation solutions. These solutions support pre-processing and post-processing of data across a wide range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, industrial, and marine. Using Cadence’s suite of FEA tools, you will develop creative and innovative customer solutions, benchmark product capabilities across diverse applications, advocate best practices, and collaborate closely with sales and product teams.
Job Duties
Provide expert technical support and deliver effective solutions that enable customers to address complex design challenges using Cadence’s software portfolio.
Develop high‑quality CAE models to support Proof‑of‑Concept engagements, demonstrating robust pre‑ and post‑processing capabilities.
Conduct software evaluations, benchmarks, and in‑depth technical discussions to improve customer productivity and decision‑making.
Deliver on‑site and virtual training sessions, technical presentations, and product demonstrations to support sales and customer success initiatives.
Develop automation scripts within Cadence products to streamline and optimize customer CAE workflows.
Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge collateral to support customer education and self‑service adoption.
Proactively identify opportunities to expand and proliferate Cadence product usage within customer environments.
Communicate customer requirements, feedback, and insights from support engagements to R&D and Marketing teams to influence product direction and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate should have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in CAE model development and finite element analysis using industry‑standard solvers such as MSC Nastran, LS-DYNA, Abaqus etc.
Hands‑on experience with ANSA and META in aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, or marine applications.
Knowledge of additional pre/post/solver technology workflows is an added plus.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python; demonstrated scripting capability is a strong plus.
Prior OEM product development experience is highly desirable.
Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Proven team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to propose and implement process improvements in an evolving environment.
Willingness and ability to travel and work at customer sites throughout North America.
