What you’ll be doing

As part of the Procurement team, you’ll support end-to-end procurement activities focusing on direct and indirect spend categories to support third-party engagements. As a Sr. Analyst, Procurement, you will be working within the Enterprise Market Data Services team, which supports the global demand for CIBC. Your primary focus will be on Market Data contracts and providing specialized market data expertise to the Capital Markets business and other lines of business requiring market data services. In this position, you will meet global business market data needs in a high-profile, strategic, rapidly evolving, and competitive environment. You will engage with your team and manager for support when required.


You will develop and present procurement strategy recommendations as part of advisory service to our internal clients based on their business requirements and industry analysis. You will develop, negotiate, execute, and implement low to moderate/high complexity procurement initiatives while ensuring that CIBC risks are mitigated, and regulatory requirements & CIBC policies are adhered to. You will also develop contract content independently or in partnership with a legal resource, lead the negotiation strategy alignment and contract negotiations, as well as secure authorizations for agreement execution.

How you’ll succeed

  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management - Help internal clients meet their business goals by providing better service and value. Focus on each internal client experience and make every interaction meaningful. Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with business partners, suppliers, and peers. Develop trusted advisor relationships and provide leadership and valued consulting advice to facilitate the effective management and completion of procurement initiatives. Align procurement solutions with their business objectives. This role works with Supplier Risk Stakeholders, Relationship Managers, and Business Leads to ensure CIBC’s supplier management framework is implemented for low to medium risk or high spend suppliers under the scope of responsibility.
  • Risk Management & Industry Knowledge - Ensure the appropriate governance is followed and adhered to for all contracts. Maintain a foundational understanding of market data products, vendors, and industry trends. Stay current with innovations and advancements in market data business practices and technologies.
  • Influencing and Negotiations - Be a strong influencer and negotiator with the ability to liaise with all levels of stakeholders. Manage contract drafting, negotiations and finalization, approval processes, etc. Comply with CIBC’s Procurement and Supplier Governance policies and processes.
  • Problem Solving - Listen, ask questions, and put yourself in the Line of Business’s shoes. Act like an owner by taking accountability for issues, and know when to collaborate with others to build better solutions together.
  • Manage Multiple Priorities - Use effective self-management practices to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Who you are

  • You have foundational market data and procurement experience. You are familiar with key market data providers, types of market data services, and their importance to capital markets and financial institutions. You are comfortable working with data and synthesizing information from multiple sources to support procurement decisions and recommendations. Experience working with market data contracts, vendors, or procurement in a financial services setting is an asset.
  • You’re a strong communicator and collaborator. You have excellent written and oral communication skills, and you build trust through respect and authenticity. You thrive in a collaborative team environment and are adaptable to changing business needs and priorities.
  • You can demonstrate strong self-planning skills sufficient to plan your own assignments according to general work plans; ability to multi-task, plan and meet timelines. Experience drafting various contract schedules (e.g., Scope of Work, SLA, etc.) is helpful but not expected. You are eager to develop your ability to analyze and interpret contract terms related to market data usage, licensing, and compliance. While prior experience in this area is helpful, it is not required. Knowledge of technology services is also helpful but not expected.
  • You’re analytical and detail-oriented. You are comfortable working with data, synthesizing information from multiple sources, and applying critical thinking to support procurement decisions and recommendations. You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
  • You’re eager to learn and grow. You are proactive about deepening your knowledge of market data products, industry regulations, and the vendor landscape. You are motivated to strengthen your influencing and negotiation skills.
