POSITION SUMMARY:  

 

Five Below, one of the fastest growing retailers in the US is looking for a highly motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join our world-class FP&A team The FP&A team at Five Below works with partners from across the organization to provide critical financial resources, analysis, critical thinking, guidance, and overall value to the business. The financial analyst’s primary responsibilities include working with the business & making recommendations on how to execute efficiency-driving initiatives, supporting business partners to help deliver their financial targets, managing various forecasting and annual budgeting process, and preparing management & board level reporting & analysis. 

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Produce various analyses of merchandise sales and margin performance 

  • Prepare and analyze business metrics including but not limited to: merchandise sales mix, store sales mix, spacial productivity, merchandise margin contribution 

  • Partner with Merchandising team and Buying team to plan & analyze performance of seasonal merchandise sets 

  • Influence cross-functional partners by translating financial results into clear, actionable recommendations that inform merchandising strategy decisions 

  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, bringing forward-looking insights and actions to improve sales, margin, and productivity 

  • Assist with monthly & quarterly financial packages for analyst calls and board of directors meetings 

  • On-going cross-functional communication with key members of the Merchandising departments 

  • Perform special finance related projects cross functionally with merchandising teams 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Analytics/Accounting/Econ 

  • 3-6 years progressive financial planning and analysis experience  

  • FP&A experience in corporate retail preferred 

  • Experience working with granular datasets, manipulating and slicing data 

  • Strong ability to turn complex data into clear insights, including building intuitive dashboards and visualizations (Power BI or similar) that drive decision-making 

  • Solid business acumen with the ability to communicate clearly and influence partners across functions 

  • Experience developing and working with financial models, budgeting tools, multi locations or stores, merchandising, distribution are all pluses 

  • Must be self-motivated and have ability to multi-task  

  • Excellent Analytical skills, working with data to uncover business trend drivers & provide recommendations 

  • Must be able to work within a dynamic, fast-paced culture 

  • Strong internal customer service orientation  

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 

  • Ability to interact with team members and management, team player 

  • Must be a problem-solver intent on offering process improvement solutions 

 

Technical Skills 

  • Skilled at financial & data analysis, recognizing trends, and communicating results 

  • Ability to take large data sets and create meaningful value-driven analysis 

  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with extreme proficiency in Excel 

  • Experience with Power BI & Microsoft Access a plus
