Sr Accountant I - SSC

Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercialises innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. General Job Requirements:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, Global Financial Solutions (GFS), we are seeking a Senior Accountant with experience of working in a fast paced multinational environment. The role involves the management  and support of the Lease Accounting and Fixed Asset Accounting process across our global entities.

Job duties include:

  • Manage and maintain the Global Lease & Fixed Asset accounting for all GFS markets. Including:

    • Processing of Additions & Retirements as required in our ERP system.

    • Liaising with Markets & Facilities team for new/amended Building leases

    • Liaising with Fleet manager & local markets for all new/amended Car lease

    • Liaising with Markets & Facilities team for timely capitalisations

  • Ensure all activities and reconciliations are completed as per the month end check lists. This would include posting of month end journals as required.

  • Ensuring close timetable deadlines are met.

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, Local Gaap and Gilead Corporate Controllers Manual. This would include preparation of various reporting requirements such as SEC quarterly schedules, Statutory schedules.

  • Ensure all Policies and Procedures are consistently adhered to at all times and ensure compliance with SOX at all times

  • Contribution to the definition and maintenance of key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Interact with internal and external auditors and other reporting requirements

  • Identification of process improvement areas and efficiency gains to help drive innovation within the role.

  • Support broader team providing guidance and provide buddy cover when necessary.

Knowledge, experience, competencies:

  • Qualified Accountant or person with an equivalent accountancy qualification with a strong track record in Lease Accounting/Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously, working under pressure to meet strict reporting deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and different cultures

  • Working knowledge and experience of SAP/Oracle or similar ERP product

  • Self-driven with high levels of integrity, excellence and teamwork

  • Ability to Interact successfully with non-financial personnel as well as with internal and external auditors

  • This role requires a flexible and adaptable individual, as role includes cross training and  team support

  • Attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Proven analytical ability and creative problem- solving skills

  • Continuous improvement mindset and with focus on efficiency gains

  • Strong Microsoft office skills particular proficiency in Excel is desirable
