The Senior Accountant performs accounting duties to provide accurate and timely financial statements to enable senior and product line management to make appropriate business decisions and achieve departmental goals
Primary Job Responsibilities
60%: Financial Statement Preparation & Reconciliation
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements that reflect business performance and comply with GAAP and Statutory accounting principles.
- Record and process monthly and quarterly journal entries to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.
- Perform account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
- Prepare and reconcile cash accounts for designated clients, ensuring accuracy and alignment with internal controls.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure financial reporting supports business needs and audit readiness.
20% Project-Based Accounting & Research
- Assist in the planning and execution of accounting activities related to special projects and initiatives.
- Conduct research on complex accounting issues, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide recommendations based on findings to support accurate and compliant financial practices.
10% Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Participate in the preparation and distribution of internal and external financial reports.
- Support the development of financial analyses that inform business decisions and ensure compliance with reporting standards.
5% Process Improvement & Documentation
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring accounting processes, leveraging tools and technology to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Lead or support the implementation of process improvements.
- Develop and maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of accounting procedures and controls.
5% Entity Support Services
- Provide accounting services and support to affiliated entities or business units as needed.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting across supported entities.
Required Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years of general accounting experience
- Strong Technical Accounting Expertise: Deep understanding of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles with the ability to apply them accurately in complex scenarios.
- Technology-Driven Mindset: Proactively leverages financial systems, automation tools, and data analytics platforms to streamline processes and enhance reporting efficiency.
- Analytical & Investigative Strength: Demonstrates sharp analytical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to research and resolve discrepancies with precision and sound judgment.
- Effective Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally—both verbally and in writing—with internal teams and external clients; able to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Organizational Agility: Manages multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and deadlines; maintains structure and clarity in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Experience with activity-based costing or resource tracking methodologies to support operational efficiency and cost transparency.
- Proficiency with enterprise financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms.
- Background in shared services or multi-site operational environments, with an understanding of centralized finance functions.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, including experience with variance analysis and performance reporting.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills; able to influence and partner across departments.
- Experience supporting international operations or working within a global finance organization.
