Speech Therapy Externship

A speech therapy graduate extern is expected to participate and conduct speech therapy sessions provided supervision from an SLP at MSA.

Under the direct supervision of the Supervising Clinician, the Speech Pathology Graduate Student is responsible for the following:
  • Attend all sessions, scheduled meetings, and enrichment meetings respective to their assigned caseload
  • Attend all scheduled meetings with interdisciplinary team
  • Conduct therapy sessions for individual students or groups in the classroom during a social skills class co-led by the speech therapist
  • Complete daily session notes
  • Graduate students must complete all mandatory Workday trainings to be in compliance with schoolwide policy
  • The graduate clinician will be required to follow Covid-19 safety protocols including, but not limited to, wiping down toys/materials/work surfaces and wearing gloves, when necessary
  • Graduate student clinician is expected to familiarize self with MSA’s staff handbook and therapy handbook, as well as other school-wide protocols
  • Graduate student clinician is expected to abide by and promote MSA’s multimodal communication approach, such that all forms of communication are acknowledged, honored, and expanded upon

Monday 8:15-3:15
Tuesday 8:15-3:15
Wednesday 8:15-3:15
Thursday 8:15-4:00

This is an unpaid internship opportunity that is only open to current students. The internship may be able to satisfy course credit if approved by the student's institution of learning.
