Description:
MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center Speech Pathologist PRN: Day Shift
Provides Speech Therapy evaluations and treatments to appropriate patients to facilitate their return to prior level of functioning as prescribed by physician. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conducts patient assessment.
Develops treatment plans for patients.
Administers treatment techniques competently.
Communicates relevant patient information.
Provides education to patients and families.
Supervises students and volunteers.
Provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in communicative disorders.
No prior experience required.
State of Iowa licensure or temporary clinical license; Certification by the American SpeechHearing Association preferred.
Mandatory Reporter.; BLS; FIM.
Valid IA driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) (required if working in Speech Therapy or Contract Therapy)
High language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.
Personal computer.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks. 11. Ability to attend patients off-site in a timely manner. 12. Ability to be flexible. 13. Strong problem solving skills. 14. Good judgment and insight. 15. Ability to communicate effectively with treatment team, supervisors, peers, patients, and families.
