ABOUT THE ROLE
You will utilize knowledge of construction products, materials, and methods to write specifications for a variety of complex projects and building types to include education, healthcare, science and technology, commercial, and interior design initiatives, and other diverse building types.
 
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Support the project team under the guidance of senior staff and the Architect of Record to assist in producing Project Manuals utilizing the CannonDesign Master with specification editing software. 
  • Support other specification writers in developing Division 00-14 Architectural sections and custom sections inclusion in the Project Manual. 
  • Support multiple projects and deadlines, contributing to milestone deliverables for various project delivery types. 
  • Collaborate with the Specification Coordinator to support coordination of the Project Manual for all disciplines. 
  • Review and provide revisions to project specific keynotes. 
  • Support review of in-progress drawings to ensure technical specifications are complete and coordinated. 
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of master specifications based on project work and feedback. 
  • Maintain awareness of industry reference standards and resources. Attend industry events as appropriate. 
  • Participate in progress meetings for assigned projects. 
  • Assist project team during CA Phase with shop drawing and product substitution reviews as needed. 
  • Engage with peers through firm-wide specifications writers' meetings to share knowledge and learn best practices. 
  • Support relationship-building with vendors in accordance with the firm's compliance policies. 
  • Support Sustainability goals of the firm. 
  • Seek mentorship from senior staff and contribute to team learning. 
  • Perform work under moderate supervision with opportunities to grow in independence. 
  • May perform other duties as required. 
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor degree required; Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in the architecture, engineering or construction industry - of which a minimum of one (1) year of specifications writing experience is required. 
  • Architectural or Engineering license preferred. CSI certification preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required. 
  • Familiarity with Contracts and relationship to Division 00 & 01. 
  • Solid technical knowledge is expected. Ability to support Coordination QA/QC across disciplines. 
  • Should demonstrate business acumen, critical thinking and analytical skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, collaboration and conflict resolution skills are required. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, MS One Note, and BlueBeam Revu is required. 
  • Exposure to Autodesk Construction Cloud and MS Lists is beneficial. 
  • Experience with specification editing software is required; familiarity with e-SPECS for Revit is a plus. 
The salary range for this position is $67,540 to $84,370 annually. This is the anticipated range of base compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
