Are you a creative storyteller who thrives on building relationships and producing engaging content? WFTS, the E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate in Tampa, Florida, is seeking a Producer for Specialty Programming who will organize, write, and edit compelling non-news local productions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with clients, manage live shows, and create content that connects with our community across multiple platforms. They will facilitate the station's community outreach initiatives, fielding requests from civic and charitable organizations and communicating those requests to station leadership to determine the station's level of involvement.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Book segments and write all copy not supplied by co-hosts

  • Attend and field produce on-location segments to ensure the best quality of segment for the show and client satisfaction

  • Work with account executives to enterprise ideas for their clients, assist with sales leads and client management

  • Meet with clients to discuss segment ideas, guest sheets and work with them to develop creative content that will sell their product

  • Act as line producer in the control room, working closely with the director making quick decisions when needed for timing an hour-long show

  • Develop and cultivate strong relationships with clients to ensure successful segments and station partnership

  • Work as a team to develop engaging posts for social media including creating ideas for live streaming opportunities

  • Lend expertise to the client to help them better understand television and how it can help their product

  • Conceptualize and execute station initiatives and special projects

  • Responsible for coordinating station participation in community events that further the brand of the station.

  • Responsible for maintaining relationships with charitable organizations.

  • Works with on-air talent to organize special appearances, on-air promotion and participation in station sponsored events.

  •  Works with Creative Services to plan and coordinate station events

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience

  • Generally, 3-5 years of experience in related field preferred

  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
     

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Ability to write feature packages

  • Must be creative, possess excellent communication skills and be able to work under deadline pressures

  • Must be able to work with clients and have strong customer service skills

  • Knowledge of personal computers and internet usage

  • Proficient in using social media to market local programming

  • Flexible hours and travel are required
