Specialty Assembler

As a Mechanical Assembler, you’ll build equipment that customers rely on for consistent production and dependable uptime. You’ll join Unifiller, a Coperion brand – part of Hillenbrand, onsite in Richmond, BC. We design and manufacture depositing and portioning systems used in industrial and food production environments. Your work will strengthen product quality, support disciplined execution on the shop floor, and help improve how we standardize builds over time. You’ll have a direct impact on safety, repeatability, and long-term performance in the field.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Assemble machine components using hand and power tools, following drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications to meet build and quality requirements.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and assembly documentation to plan work sequence, verify parts, and prevent fit, alignment, or function issues.
  • Assemble pneumatic components by following layout drawings and schematics, ensuring correct routing, connections, and consistent machine performance.
  • Follow electrical layout drawings and schematics to support safe, accurate placement and routing of electrical components and cables during assembly.
  • Maintain safe work practices by using required personal protective equipment (PPE) and procedures, and by identifying hazards early.
  • Keep your workstation clean, organized, and inspection-ready to support efficient flow, strong 5S habits, and safe material handling.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping define assembly procedures, fixtures, and jigs that improve repeatability, ergonomics, and throughput.

  • You’ll collaborate with assembly teammates and cross-functional partners to resolve build issues, share clear status updates, and support a respectful, inclusive environment where different perspectives improve outcomes.

THE EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED:

  • Secondary school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, machine assembly, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, BOMs, and written work instructions with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic systems, including the ability to follow pneumatic schematics during assembly.
  • Ability to follow electrical layout drawings and schematics safely and accurately during assembly work.
  • Proficiency using common hand and power tools, and the judgment to use them safely and correctly.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to document issues, coordinate handoffs, and support problem-solving.
  • Ability to organize tasks, manage time, work independently with minimal supervision, and lift up to 50 lbs.

The pay range is $27.00-$30.00. Exact compensation will be based on experience, education and other job-related factors.
