Job Description:
The Capital & Balance Sheet Management team, part of TD Securities Finance, is responsible for capital management and capital project initiatives, as well as providing subject matter expertise in liquidity, funding and the balance sheet. The team is involved in leading consultations and industry discussions regarding current and upcoming OSFI requirements, optimizing capital, managing financial resources, business line measurement, forecasting, and limit management.
The Manager is responsible for providing regulatory capital advisory and management for Banking Book activities across TD Securities, with a focus on structured products, securitization transactions, and capital optimization initiatives. This role provides subject-matter expertise on applicable regulatory capital frameworks, including OSFI and FRB, and supports the consistent interpretation and application of capital rules.
Advise on capital management actions, including significant risk transfers, guarantees, hedging, and portfolio repositioning.
Provide technical advisory on regulatory capital treatment for new products, structured transactions, and securitization initiatives, supporting efficient capital structuring and alignment with regulatory expectations.
Partner with Front Office, Risk, and Treasury to evaluate the impact of transactions on capital, leverage, and portfolio performance.
Identify and assess technical capital optimization opportunities across the banking book, to improve capital efficiency, balance sheet utilization, and return on equity.
Act as an escalation point for complex capital interpretive issues and emerging risks, and coordinate remediation actions where required.
Monitor regulatory developments and coordinate implementation of rule changes impacting Banking Book products, ensuring timely updates to internal policies, processes and stakeholder guidance.
Strong understanding of wholesale banking and capital markets products, including securitizations, credit risk transfers and structured lending.
Solid understanding of regulatory capital frameworks and their practical application, including regulatory interpretation, policy development, or capital implementation.
Experience assessing new products or business initiatives from a risk, capital, accounting, or balance sheet perspective.
Demonstrated capability to work effectively with Front Office, Risk, Finance, and Treasury stakeholders in an advisory or governance capacity.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience working with large datasets and developing insights to support decision-making.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare materials for executive audiences.
High degree of initiative, accountability, and comfort operating in a fast-paced and evolving regulatory environment.
7+ years relevant experience preferred
CFA, FRM, CPA or equivalent designation preferred
Undergraduate degree
Graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline considered an asset
Work activities include a blend of highly collaborative activities and individual deliverables. Individuals are expected to be onsite 4 days a week. Colleagues may spend more or less days in office as required by the business line.
