Job Summary:
Acrisure is seeking a Specialist, Revenue & Receivables to join our growing team in Grand Rapids. The role is responsible for executing daily billing and receivable activities within an insurance environment. This role ensures accurate and timely invoicing, proper setup of billing terms, reconciliation of receivable balances, and adherence to GAAP and internal controls. The specialist supports high-volume billing and receivables processing, contributes to month-end close activities, and partners closely with internal stakeholders to ensure billing accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Billing & Receivables Management
Execute end-to-end billing and accounts receivable processes, including policy invoicing, endorsements, adjustments, and cancellations.
Ensure accurate setup of customer, agent, and carrier billing terms in accordance with insurance contracts.
Monitor receivable balances and aging reports; identify trends, discrepancies, and potential collection risks.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to billing and receivables, including reconciliations and journal entries.
Partner with Operations, Sales, and Accounting teams to resolve billing issues and ensure accurate revenue recognition
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Ensure billing and receivable activity is recorded in accordance with GAAP and insurance industry accounting standards.
Prepare documentation and support internal and external audit requests, including reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Follow SOX controls and internal accounting policies related to billing and receivables.
Process Support & Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve billing and accounts receivable processes to increase accuracy and efficiency.
Assist with system enhancements, reporting improvements, and automation initiatives related to billing and receivables.
Maintain and follow documented standard operating procedures for billing and AR processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with internal departments to address billing inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate account setup.
Provide guidance on billing procedures and documentation requirements when needed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Strong understanding of insurance billing practices and receivable processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Workday or agency management systems preferred
Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of experience in accounts receivable and billing, preferably in the insurance industry.
Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
